How does one respond to this?

Trumps latest brainfart makes the claim that Homeless people are creating Tremendous pollution and damaging the environment.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-19/trump-says-homelessness-is-causing-environmental-damage/11530128
I am at a loss where to start. Does he mean gangs of homeless are creating havoc in national parks? Like marauding Bears? Or is their smell Making it hard for the sun to cut through to the ground? Which environment is he talking about? The pavements of the bigger cities? Is this Americas new "Environment? Maybe these homeless people should go home and take a shower? Please reassure me that Americans arent as stupid as this??

You joking right?
You must be aware of the filth in San Francisco.
The heart of the squalor is half way between Pelosi's house and her office.

No one id doing shit about it.
It's rat infested
Disease ridden
A true societal concern

And you are making jokes about it.

What's wrong with you people?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell Does it matter?? Both sides of your politics have been equally bought. But thats drifting off the point.
Magenta · F
@whowasthatmaskedman I would say not, that is an exaggeration. But, if it isn't addressed with viable solutions by officials, who knows how bad it will get. I think very.

I just don't agree with lumping them all into "victim" status. As I said, many choose to be homeless.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Thinkerbell
Of course it's relevant, Kemo Sabe. Lefties frequently try to add credence to their nonsensical statements by pretending to be centrist moderates. 😂
Well, rightoids these days have basically lost their minds and seem to think centrist moderates are actually leftoids, so it's a fair concern 🤷‍♂️

Tbh these days centrist moderates are nearly as bad as rightoids and leftoids anyway, the only hope left for the future is in radical centrism.
Please reassure me that Americans arent as stupid as this??
I wish I could, but the best I can say is that not all Americans aren't this stupid.

Rats, vermin, Mexicans, Gays, Blacks, Democrats, liberals, gun grabbers, they're all the "other", people for Trump to blame and rail against.
Fernie · F
@MistyCee 😄...you're right...we ARE dinosaurs...and you're smart to respect Ostriches...we run at 30 miles an hour and can eviscerate you with our feet in 30 seconds
@Fernie yes ma'am
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MistyCee (Trying to picture an Ostrich managing to drive a jeep.)🤔
Fernie · F
So THAT'S why the glaciers are melting and breaking away at an alarming rate and about to raise the oceans by 30 feet....
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Fernie exactly 😇
Fernie · F
@Yulianna 🤗

If they're truly homeless the following things are true:

They live more like natives, with very few possessions.
They helpfully recycle things that are already discarded.
They do not drain the energy grid or fill up the sewers.

Trump's immediate family would cause more pollution and damage than 100 homeless people. He lies to secure the ignorant vote.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
But do they cause cancer like windmills do? That's the real question!
@windinhishair Windmills only cause an excess of bird deaths (and some good clean energy) ...not cancer.

The pollution is coming out of that orange dragon's mouth.
Fernie · F
That family does not possess an empathy gene
no... shitting in the streets is totally normal 👌
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Virgo79 But is this an "environmental" issue? A social issue, sure.. A Welfare issue, Yes.. A Town Planning, or sanitation issue.. Yes..A health issue? Absolutely..
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman well if it's not then the EPA should keep their noses out of septic systems.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
I get that a lot of Homeless people in a city is a problem.. Just like BEING homeless is a problem. But since when is it "environmental"?
You've heard, perhaps, of the term "urban environment"?

[c=#008099]http://web.mit.edu/urbanupgrading/urbanenvironment/issues/key-UE-issues.html[/c]

I must admit, however, that even M.I.T. seems not to have thought of what liberal mismanagement has wrought in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
SW-User
Mr Trump said the issue was an environmental one because "tremendous pollution", including syringes used by homeless addicts to inject drugs, was flowing into the Pacific Ocean from Bay Area cities.
WTF? 😆😆😆

He just pulls this stuff out of his ass like a magician pulling an endless scarf from his sleeve.
Fernie · F
@SW-User great analogy
Yulianna · 22-25, F
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@soar2newhighs an honest answer...

Ukraine has big homelessness problem - nearly 2.5% of population; big HIV problem - maybe 1.0%; big drugs problem, big corruption problem.

How do we deal with these thing? on the whole, badly. we have war with russia. corruption steals from the state, so resources are few. And we elect professional commedian as president.

but no one in Ukraine identifies these people as pollution and damage to environment. it takes a special kind of moral bankruptcy to see society's victims as pollution.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Yulianna And that is exactly my point. It is referring to the homeless in the same way you refer to an oil spill that I object to. And the constructed cities are NOT the national parks or the oceans. Trump sees no value in anything that cant be built on and sold.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
Trump sees no value in anything
except that which reflects back to him his own overblown, hyper-narcissistic self-image... even in his won family.
curiosi · 61-69, F
So you are fine with dropping your draws in the middle of the street and defecating?
Carazaa · F
@whowasthatmaskedman You sound like a hater. Some people with Schitsophrenia can not help themselves. THEY NEED HELP!!!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Carazaa I dont hate anyone. And Yes. Many with mental issues must be helped and supported. I was not referring to the homeless helping themselves. Rather I was referring to the "people" not waiting for god to provide a miracle. People need to help people here and now.
Carazaa · F
@whowasthatmaskedmanNow you're talking sense. 🙂
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Homelessness is a problem, but as usual Trump is spitting complete nonsense. It’s amazing that he can take a perfectly legitimate crisis, and then start saying complete gibberish on the topic. There is no shortage of real material 🤷‍♂️
SW-User
He could use that money he’s taking for his “wall” and help homeless people get back on their feet instead if bitching about.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User Or adding support and services to the cities to help them deal with the needs of the people
Carazaa · F
@whowasthatmaskedman This is not an economic issue! It is a caring for people issue. People need to care and we have the money to care for all people and make the country really nice. Since America has the largest economy in the world, and California the 8th we can solve this problem like no other country could if we cared.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Yes. I cant fault a word of what you say. But it isnt happening.
He should look in the mirror and see the twisted marauding toxic deplorable MONSTER scowling back.

Why don't Americans stay in school long enough to learn "Playing Well Together", the kind of lesson most kids get their first YEAR?

Before most of them KNOW what a mirror is or how to tie their shoes.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
I see what you did there, acting all unaware to get people to read it. He mentioned needles. I'd also add their tent cities and public defecation.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@whowasthatmaskedman but it is the environment, with our population our bodily waste can no longer be treated naturally. I just realized another factor, burning garbage to keep warm. Pollution is pollution from the smallest gum wrapper to chemical runoff. And just as he said there are needles ending up in the ocean. We all know Trump likes to exaggerate but he's not wrong, homeless people contribute to environmental damage in a homeless specific way.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Okay.. Reasoned points that I can accept. But all cities have waste collection sewerage and sanitation services. These can and should be adapted to manage these issues.
It is the claim that somehow the footpaths are now part of the environment to be protected in the same way Yosemite National park has to be protected. The cities are NOT part of the natural environment to be preserved, as much as they might be worth keeping.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Yes, he mentioned needles... flowing into the ocean through the storm drains 😂

What a retard.
And I’d expect nothing less from someone like Trump or his soulless supporters. 😒
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Sorry to say we are in fact that stupid.
Worst part is we basically control the worlds economy.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@AthrillatheHunt Luckily, that last part is not as true as it was. Not that the next pair of hands will be any cleaner.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Another day. Same shlt from liberals
