How does one respond to this?

Trumps latest brainfart makes the claim that Homeless people are creating Tremendous pollution and damaging the environment.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-19/trump-says-homelessness-is-causing-environmental-damage/11530128
I am at a loss where to start. Does he mean gangs of homeless are creating havoc in national parks? Like marauding Bears? Or is their smell Making it hard for the sun to cut through to the ground? Which environment is he talking about? The pavements of the bigger cities? Is this Americas new "Environment? Maybe these homeless people should go home and take a shower? Please reassure me that Americans arent as stupid as this??

You joking right?
You must be aware of the filth in San Francisco.
The heart of the squalor is half way between Pelosi's house and her office.

No one id doing shit about it.
It's rat infested
Disease ridden
A true societal concern

And you are making jokes about it.

What's wrong with you people?
strongbow · 46-50, M
@Budwick I dont believe this idiot is joking, thats the low IQ mentality level of liberals speaking right there
Budwick · 70-79, M
@strongbow Sadly, you may be right.
Potentially a major forthcoming health issue? Hey, look at the terror the medical world here in the US is expressing at a situation that CAN be put under control...measles and those who are opposed to vaccinating those in need. But in my opinion, the conditions prevalent with the homeless is not adequately addressed by the two parties, and heaven forbid, like those kids being "mandated" to be vaccinated, that the homeless be mandated to literally "clean up their act". Yes, easier said than done, but if left unchecked, as I said, a potential health crisis. @Budwick

@Budwick Yes. I have been there and I am told it has gotten worse since. A lot of the worlds big Cities are rat infested and poorly maintained. And homelessness is a major issue worldwide. A terrible problem, made far worse in the US by the fact that a number of those homeless are ex service people the system has failed. Its the sheer ..(I am struggling for a word that takes in the stupidity, ignorance and insensitivity)of the man in writing this off as an environmental problem caused by the homeless people themselves or the city fathers in not cleaning up after them.

@Budwick

From Kemo Sabe's "about me" info:
My politics would be considered Centre/Right, any place but America.
Really? Even in Saudi Arabia or Iran, for example? (and there are more)
Budwick · 70-79, M
@soar2newhighs Yes - it can not be ignored!

That word is Democrats
Sadly, it shouldn't be, but is. Politics and politicians will do whatever to further their agendas, and in this case, say SF, and in NYC too, and no doubt other major US cities, this is the way IMO the Democrats and left insidiously are turning this country into a third world country.@Budwick
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell And I stand by this. Is it relevant somehow?? Or doesnt homelessness or the environment could unless its producing oil or buying guns?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Budwick Unlike some, I am not going to delete stupid, unhelpful comments. I will let them sit there and show you up. You can do better.
Magenta · F
@whowasthatmaskedman But also there are many homeless drug addicts and people who actually choose to be homeless.

The more they allow it without trying to manage it the more chaos there will be. I've seen the images and those streets are utter filth.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Magenta Every word you said is correct. And its a tragedy of epic proportions for the city, its residents and the homeless people themselves. But is it in the same category as the Deep Water fire, the Plastic continent in the middle of the oceans or polluted water tables in fracking areas?
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
And I stand by this. Is it relevant somehow??
Of course it's relevant, Kemo Sabe. Lefties frequently try to add credence to their nonsensical statements by pretending to be centrist moderates. 😂

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell Okay. As my original statement YOU quoted, by your standards I would be a "lefty". Just a lefty that put their kids through an "Ivy" league school, owns a $Million house with a couple of cars in the driveway and has had a very nice lifestyle, only recently quit wearing a tie, has travelled and has enough to see them out quite comfortably. Just your average lefty.
Carazaa · F
@Magenta No one chooses to be homeless at all. They don't want a shelter of course that is embarrassing, but they do want a nice apartment and we should give that to mentally ill and drug addicts with social workers to help them. Everyone wants their own room. Many have been losing their houses because of bank frauds, and losing their apartments because there is no rent control and greed, and many are kicked out of their own homes because of some wife kicked them out, and many are homeless because they got fired by some hater who didn't want to help them with counseling or drug rehab. So with no job or place to live they resort to the street, so sad... Diseases are spreading because of filth! Parks and rivers are not for families any more but homeless camps. But God will hear our prayers because he cares about the poor and the needy. Laws not to fire, not to raise rent, and good mass transits so people can get to work I think will help a lot with the homeless around the country.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman

I don't recall you saying all that in your "about me" blurb, but if you say so, ok... it would fit the pattern of a typical lefty politician. 🤭
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Carazaa While I cant share your "faith" that a solution will present itself I agree that the American "system" has been responsible for creating many of these homeless. Through financial loss, Health issues, family breakdown and failure to look after those who served and returned damaged. There would be a need to rewrite American society in a kinder, more just manner for these problems to be addressed. But its Trump ignorance in considering these people a problem in the same way Toxic waste is considered that irks me.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell Does it matter?? Both sides of your politics have been equally bought. But thats drifting off the point.
Magenta · F
@whowasthatmaskedman I would say not, that is an exaggeration. But, if it isn't addressed with viable solutions by officials, who knows how bad it will get. I think very.

I just don't agree with lumping them all into "victim" status. As I said, many choose to be homeless.

@Thinkerbell
Of course it's relevant, Kemo Sabe. Lefties frequently try to add credence to their nonsensical statements by pretending to be centrist moderates. 😂
Well, rightoids these days have basically lost their minds and seem to think centrist moderates are actually leftoids, so it's a fair concern 🤷‍♂️

Tbh these days centrist moderates are nearly as bad as rightoids and leftoids anyway, the only hope left for the future is in radical centrism.
