@Greybare so socialism is all but none of them at the same time? Also, SOCIALISM needs to employ a new marketing executive for attaching its brand to fascism......that's a silly move

@Greybare yeah....fascism is the same as socialism. I'm moving to America, because under your definition America is the up and coming socialist state 😉

I believe that Denmark has Democratic Socialism - and it works very well there. That country does not have the terrible contrast between extreme rich and shockingly poor that exists in other countries such as the USA, UK, Russia and India.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@helensusanswift Denmark is a tiny little country of 5 million cobbled out of small towns and almost no major industries with a major export of pig meat and virtually no economic relevance in the global economy other than the fact that it's nestled among the European states.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SteelHands your point being?
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@SteelHands Denmark is a country with a long history and vast experience of world affairs. It has evolved into one of the most successful nations on earth. It has chosen its political system with care and proved it to be a success.

Socialism as a form of government is theft and murder.

No matter how the name is changed.

No matter where it has been attempted.

It's false promises are only levers to inflame class hatred.

Those who laud its plausibility as a system of government that actually do the checking on how it functions are liars.

Socialism is fascism dressed up as egalitarianism. And it's most ardent advocates are always the first ones executed for dissidence once it's taken its stranglehold on a country.

@OwnerOfMany Little uneducated inexperienced kids like to accuse those who aren't as ignorant as they are of not knowing anything.

Yet not one that I've ever spoken to has ever taught me a thing other than how unimportant people become when their minds become chained by tyrants.

This country will never become the place for their kind of thinking. I think we need to stop helping them. They're ungrateful and they're lazy.

@OwnerOfMany Nevermind and I bow out, reread facism and bullying.

@SW-User Ireland's biggest export is Irishmen.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
By whose definition is 'Democratic Socialism' ?
SW-User
@Picklebobble2 America truly has found ways to distort the meaning of socialism. Last I checked, it had to do with how workers had shares, participation in who they worked for, changing the for to with.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@SW-User You need to check again.
Northwest · M
@OwnerOfMany
For the sake of definition let's say Bernie Sanders version which is close to the general across the board ideology.
Not the way Americans understand it. Even taking a sample on SW, the conservatives equate socialism with communism.

By democratic socialism do you mean like the public school system where the government provides free education to all through the 12th grade? Works in the US!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Advocate the same thing they do in Sweden and you get compared to Stalin. Lol
Northwest · M
@Burnley123 What do you expect from people who can't think for themselves.
@Burnley123 Heck. Advocate something markedly less radical than early American pro-labor organizers and get compared to Stalin.
booboo · M
those that vote yes are just lazy...
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User nothing to do with the economic sanctions and withholding billions of their own dollars from them by US and UK central banks?
SW-User
@gol979 not helping but @booboo implied it was due to socialism
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User yep but giving reasons such as corruption (it exists but no more than in our beloved democracies, probably less) and incompetence (they should have expanded their economy along side oil but they didnt) rather than more obvious and much more detrimental reasons muddies the water further imo

Yes been a supporter of the Labour Party all my life like my dad and his dad and my mum, although I think her dad was in the communist party in the 30s

@soar2newhighs Like I said, I gave you too much credit. I will not make that mistake again. You're just another conspiracy theorist, or a new avatar for one of the other conspiracy nuts on SW.

The sentence is "Denial is not just a river in Egypt". Let me break it down further for you:

De Nile is not just a river in Egypt.

Do you get it now? I doubt it.

Perhaps you should have paid attention in College, or better yet, ask a college student, educated in one of those liberal universities you hate so much.
Thanks for your reply-ever see what has come out of our COLLEGES today? Waste my time asking some coddled brat who needs a safe space? I'll gladly talk with an engineering student, a medical Student, a Science Student, but as far as those who are buffaloed by Academia from the left- I do not have, nor do I want to waste my time with them. And the college I went to was real life experience 12 years in the USAF AND 25 AS A FIREFIGHTER, that was and is my college, but for WIW-Any course I took, I got a 4.0 grade. As far as I'm concerned too many of our college students aren't astute enough to not be duped. And what University or college did you attend?@Northwest
Northwest · M
@soar2newhighs So, when I asked if you went to college, and you said Yes!, you lied.

Not surprising from a Trumpster.

It figures though, what you have is college envy. Got it. I should have figured that out. You can't stand that others have what you could not have. Why would an engineering student, or a medical student, or a sciences student, want to have a conversation with you.

You can't even figure out a common expression.

Come to think of it, you're probably just another alias of that other asshole, who hates college kids, because he could not get in.

The following is not the way I see the world. But it is how others see it.

Let's take the case of free college education. We are yelling that it is socialism? Ok I go along with that. Let's keep the country the way it has always been and allow people who can afford to get an education get one. The others can remain uneducated. In fact the country could save a TON of money if we stopped paying for education after middle school. Let's just provide free education through the 8th grade and then let those who can afford it go on to private high schools. We can even make the case that private high schools will do a better job of teaching our children and it will be safer because those poor folks won't be hampering our kids' education.

Would our country be better off if we did this?

Then you are chasing an answer you either disagree with or don't. Wouldn't being interested in the topic that results be more interesting?
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@SW-User I'm just curious as to how people are leaning.
SW-User
@OwnerOfMany Since I can't know why you ask, does feel a little emotional. You are old enough to see this culture used to treat people of different values/ethics different, even if it was character judgements only based in clothes. I do think people are learning this way, opening up to different ideas they never thought they would, and while I dont always love this world, I have to take in my mind in what I see.
Like "capitalism" this term "democratic socialism" now lacks any meaning. So you'd have to clarify. These terms can mean almost anything to people.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
YES.. Might as well get used to it and accept that as the woman take the reins from the old white men, this will become the new norm..
