Where's the line? Pretty much right there at the N word, my dude. You don't have to look for it. Other racial slurs too, it's just that the n word has a more powerful history in the US.
If you're not black then most people know that word is not acceptable to use and virtually all of society recognizes that they'll catch shit for saying it in mixed company.

Um...yes. That's how this all works, my dude. Time was when the n word was considered a perfectly acceptable word to use...and now it's not because society and culture evolves. It's not an ok word to use because of the history of meaning behind it. That is just where that word sits in our culture and your insistence that this ought not to be the case changes nothing.
You can try to tell people that the swastika is just a symbol and use it freely, but it's still going to represent the horrifying murders of millions of men, women and children.
You said you don't know why the n word should be considered bad. It's considered bad because it represents a time of subjugation, enslavement, rape and violence.
The history does not disappear because we're removed by a few generations.
The fact that there are other bad words or even bad words that are maybe less restricted has no bearing on the use of the n word.

And no, i don't use either of those words either and i consider them or other racial slurs to be in the same category as the n word.

So when someone hurts other races/blacks it's like they hurt me.

Furthermore I am working with refugees. Many of them are Blacks and not all of course, but many of them are wonderful, funny people who nevertheless respect me.

I am a social worker and all kind of misanthropy towards others hurts me as if its against ME.
