Winning? SAD!

So far this week...

Trump has suggested - you know, that lover and defender of the US Constitution - that any NFL player who kneels during the national anthem "shouldn't be in the country."

Has lost a federal appeal and may not block Twitter users from his feed because, as most all of us know, it's a public site. Still holding sacred that 1st Amendment.

Has suggested that the Democrats are "sticking up for" MS-13, apparently the only gang to have ever existed. Because what he cannot and will not understand is that while we all want to eradicate gangs, referring to them as less than human not only precludes looking for a rational long-term solution but also alienates the very community whose help he needs in doing this.

...and has gone from threatening to "decimate" Lil' Rocket Man" to the incredibly vacillatory "We'll see what happens. Right now we're looking at it, we're talking about it. And they're talking to us. We have certain conditions. We'll see what happens. But there's a good chance." All while heading right back into stand-off mode.

No major debate point here. Simply utter astonishment that not only have we elected an unprecedentedly incompetent man for the nation's highest office, there are actually citizens who applaud his idiocy and condone his behavior.

The president is a clear and present danger to the nation. He proves it every single day. He has no problem destroying our institutions in a desperate attempt to stop the Mueller investigation. He will not succeed.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MistyCee I'm betting on the 60% of the nation that remains opposed to the abomination in the White House. If the 40% wins, we're in deep trouble as a nation.
@windinhishair Thing is, the 40% won once, and now they're dealing the cards, and complaining about deep state cameras watching the dealer as well as the players.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MistyCee Absolutely. Maybe I am too optimistic, but I just can't believe that evil will win out a second time.

Just to clarify:

Trump lost the court decision not because Twitter is a public site.

It's because he is using it for official government business and thus may not block users from reading what he is saying.

The court is essentially saying that Trump can no more block an American from reading his Tweets anymore than he can block someone from receiving a TV signal to watch his State of the Union address, news conferences or any other official action he takes that is otherwise being widely disseminated to the nation.

Court rulings like this one don't just apply to Trump, but to any governmental agency or elected official.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan cost his state $65,000 to settle a federal lawsuit with the American Civil Liberties Union after he blocked more than 400 people from his Facebook page. I say "Lock him up!" Why should taxpayers have to foot the bill for his nonsense?

@beckyromero Thank you for clarifying the fine points.

MS-13 is about the only thing he knows, because this is what the right wing TV heads focus on.

I am not at all surprised with his rhetoric. It plays well to his base. I used to think it's theatrics on his part, but he seems to be the real deal, a racist, xenophobe, misogynist conman.

As to Rocket Man, anyone who knows anything about N. Korea, advised him to first negotiate a deal, make sure it's clear what's being agreed to, and then meet with KJU to sign it.

He made fun of all these people, and said that he does not need advise from people who failed, whereas he's succeeding. His "Dear John" letter, reads like something a Mafia Don would write, including the not so subtle threat to flatten N. Korea. I wonder what would happen to S. Korea is we nuke N. Korea.

We know exactly how KJU acts. I mean, FFS, he assassinated his own brother, in a very public way, and his own uncle and members of his family. He is not an honorable man, but I guess, as far as Mafia "norms" go, Don Corleone is an honorable man, so that's cool with Trump.

So, when someone says that the blame, or part of the blame, goes to KJU, I start laughing hysterically. It only reminds me of that old story about the frog and the scorpion... KJU is going to do what KJU does, the blame is on the juvenile showman, we put in charge, for providing a world stage and a spotlight for Rocket Man.

This would not be different from claiming that he's building The Wall, and calling the NYT and WaPO fake news, for questioning that claim. In his own mind, just because he said it will be done, it is done.

Being President is NOT the same as being a CEO of a private company.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Northwest Well, I trust we'll be safe. After all, "he alone" can fix things and it's, according to him, it's not that difficult.
Northwest · M
@Graylight I know, I don't get how no one, prior to him, couldn't get these simple things do.

However, who knew that healthcare could be so complicated?
He just called cancelled the North Korea summit as well.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@beckyromero It seems trump is only interested in how to stay in the news for the sake of being in the news. Outcomes don't matter to him. This guy is starved for constant attention whether it's negative, positive, or fake. This is a reality TV model that is super charged. The meeting will be back on, there will be a cliff-hanger, the meeting will be off. trump said it himself when he got elected... "it's all about keeping the viewers."
@beckyromero I'm pretty sure no one was really surprised at this.

Trump seemed to be jumping at the chance to distract from his domestic problems and who better then Kim to try it with.

Let's see if Trump continues to taunt, or if he wants to really distract and take Kim out. I'm guessing he won't, but I'm kind of worried he will.

Exactly.

The tone of the letter did seem to leave open the possibility of a summit taking place sometime after June 12th. He even thanked Kim for the release of the American hostages.
And he’s canceling the North Korea summit because of Kim’s “hostility”. That’s rich.
Our racist president has never understood the reason for the “kneel” in the first place. Ironic that he would deny the players their First Amendment Rights while holding fast to his own.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Damn another that thinks the first amendment is great but not the second
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@windinhishair he has no interest in it. He and his ilk clearly have little use for the first amendment except when it suits them. Hell, the 2nd amendment is the most “preserved” of all of them. The 4th is basically eviscerated.
So Trump has the right to 'disrespect' the 1st amendment of the Constitution that he put his hand on the bible and swore to defend as the POTUS ? The guy that's going to 'Make America Great Again' and you don't have a problem with that ? The players weren't disrespecting the flag they were protesting the false patriot, racist, POTUS, that wraps himself in it and Proved himself to be in front of the entire country. @MarineBob
He is the 'Commander in Chief' and he openly, on the National News, degraded and insulted a wounded VET, all captured wounded VETS for that matter, and you laid Your life on the line, Simpa Fi, to defend someone like HIM ? @MarineBob
