Winning? SAD!

So far this week...

Trump has suggested - you know, that lover and defender of the US Constitution - that any NFL player who kneels during the national anthem "shouldn't be in the country."

Has lost a federal appeal and may not block Twitter users from his feed because, as most all of us know, it's a public site. Still holding sacred that 1st Amendment.

Has suggested that the Democrats are "sticking up for" MS-13, apparently the only gang to have ever existed. Because what he cannot and will not understand is that while we all want to eradicate gangs, referring to them as less than human not only precludes looking for a rational long-term solution but also alienates the very community whose help he needs in doing this.

...and has gone from threatening to "decimate" Lil' Rocket Man" to the incredibly vacillatory "We'll see what happens. Right now we're looking at it, we're talking about it. And they're talking to us. We have certain conditions. We'll see what happens. But there's a good chance." All while heading right back into stand-off mode.

No major debate point here. Simply utter astonishment that not only have we elected an unprecedentedly incompetent man for the nation's highest office, there are actually citizens who applaud his idiocy and condone his behavior.

@MistyCee Weren't his adoring, loyal supporters just jumping up and down screaming "Nobel! Nobel! Nobel!"? It will be interesting to see how they spin this.

Have to say I blame Kim Jong Un for this one. He was already threatening not to attend. Trump called his bluff.

Kim recently made a second trip to China and then immediately cancelled a scheduled meeting with South Korean leaders. He was never really serious about denuclearizing. Now it would appear that pretty soon the U.S. Air Force will do it for him.

Personally, I think Trump should have gone to Singapore even if Kim Jong Un said in advance that he wouldn't attend. Trump could have had an "empty chair" summit. An opportunity to show the whole world that the U.S. was willing to talk about ending the Korean War for good.

But Trump is too bull-headed to pull off that public relations coup.

@beckyromero It seems trump is only interested in how to stay in the news for the sake of being in the news. Outcomes don't matter to him. This guy is starved for constant attention whether it's negative, positive, or fake. This is a reality TV model that is super charged. The meeting will be back on, there will be a cliff-hanger, the meeting will be off. trump said it himself when he got elected... "it's all about keeping the viewers."
@beckyromero I'm pretty sure no one was really surprised at this.

Trump seemed to be jumping at the chance to distract from his domestic problems and who better then Kim to try it with.

Let's see if Trump continues to taunt, or if he wants to really distract and take Kim out. I'm guessing he won't, but I'm kind of worried he will.

Exactly.

The tone of the letter did seem to leave open the possibility of a summit taking place sometime after June 12th. He even thanked Kim for the release of the American hostages.
