Do you hate SJWs?

On YouTube/Twitter/and other social media there seems to be so much hate for Social Justice Warriors. There are countless accounts devoted to pouring vitriolic ridicule on these people.

Okay, some of them are pretty funny. But there is so much energy spent on mocking them and really, there are so few SJWs out there. I'm thinking that its a mini moral panic and a group of people have found that its in there interests to manufacturer a hate group. What I'm saying, is that SJWs are less common than people have you believe. They just know that if they put out a video mocking SJWs, they are going to get a lot of clicks.

But ultimately, is what SJWs want so bad? Equality for women, equality for those who are ethnic minorities and equality of opportunity. What's so bad about that?

I agree completely and posted about the same thing.

My reading is that it's a gigantic strawman. Pick the silliest thing that a student SJW does and say: "Look at what the left is like." It's also a mechanism for re-framing things around a 'free speech' argument and conflating criticism with censorship. This way, the cultural right avoids having to talk about racism or treatment of minority groups and can focus on the mythical SJWs and 'cultural Marxists' from stopping them from speaking, though nobody is stopping you dumbasses from speaking and people are just exercising their own free speech to disagree with you.

The SJW thing also allows the cultural right to see themselves as a besieged minority group. Even though anti SJWs dominate the platform of YouTube and that any Google search reveals fifty anti SJW options and no platform created by SJWs themselves.

That in itself is revealing of the agenda here. Yes, some 19 year olds are immature and have some dumb dogmatic ideas. In other news, the Earth is round.

It would be just like if the political left dominated YouTube with thousands of videos saying that all Trump supporters were like Richard Spencer and that 'cultural fascism' is preventing our free speech. It's bonkers.

@Jackaloftheazuresand Its mostly not the left who criticise them and the left is not a monolithic thing. Some on the left are progressive on economic issues and moderates on the culture war. What is called the left has a huge range of opinions.

In the Jim Crow era, you got the Dixiecrats who were pro segregation and also Keynesian. You get Marxists who are anti feminist brocialists and so on.

However, most of the anti SJW stuff does come from the right and the leftists who go along with it are wrong to do so. Maybe some are nor aware of the agenda, maybe some just want the clicks and maybe some are not actually left on a lot of issues.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 Yes they do, I even gave you the channels to watch. If you can say the right does something then of course the left is also a group.

How are they wrong?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@JackaloftheazuresandThe individual criticisms of Sjws on those channels are correct. Of course they are, or they wouldn't pick it as a straw man.

The point is, why pick that as a priority to criticise? The Amazing Atheist has a visceral hatred for Anita Sarkesian. She is just a boring average liberal feminist who talks about making some computer games more PC. Personally I think she is half way right but (as a leftist myself) I really don't care either way. I'm more interested in political economics, stopping the rise of the far right other aspects of the culture war.

Any youtube channel which caters to the needs and prejudices of a young, male and gamer audience will get a lot of clicks. If it can be framed as classical liberal, it can so reach an audience which is not predesposed to the political right.

The classical liberals who do this are enabling the right though because they are justifying the same narrative. Chris Hitchens (who is the father of the youtube skeptic community) used 'liberal' principles to justify the Iraq War. Sam Harris does something similar. If your main priority is to defend the right on free speech grounds and to frame left wing ideas as fringe (by emphasising the worst ones) then this can support a right wing agenda.

I know we disagree and I am debating stridently but I don't think you are a bad guy. I just disagree with your take on this. I think sometimes the left is wrong on cultural issues and that many young white men are in disadvantaged positions.
I think those are all great things, personally. If that makes me an SJW (and it likely does), so be it. The opposite would be Social Injustice Warriors. I’m guessing that’s who’s against us. 😅

@bijouxbroussard They came to provoke. Who do you determine to be White Supremacists? The definition and the determination by SJWs is not the same thing. Still, having a fit and destroying your own community is a foolish thing to do. Instead of anyone saying "Hey, stop breaking things", they say "Hey stop provoking SJWs and forcing them to break things".
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SuicideBiProxy2 A lot of people on the left have somewhat mixed feelings on Antifa, though Antifa do have a policy of violence against NAZIs only.

Yes, the right wing Berkley protesters were white supremescist.

How dare you accuse someone doing a NAZI salute and wearing a Swastika of being a Nazi! You goddam SJW freaks will say that Hitler is a NAZI next! This is how the left shut down free speech and they are the real fascists

Breaking Godwin's Law. Ten points to Griffendor.
@SuicideBiProxy2
They came to provoke. Who do you determine to be White Supremacists?
People who affiliate themselves with the KKK, Neo-Nazis or Alt-Right. And they absolutely come to provoke. If the "Young Republicans" wanted to have their ideas seriously listened to, they could bring in representatives who are moderates, right ? They don't have to invite hate-mongers. that would be like the Black Student Union at Brigham Young (yes, they have one) inviting Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton to speak for Black History Month and daring anyone to get upset---in the name of free speech.

Although Al Sharpton's a lot nicer than some people think. 😉

I love SJWs and most of my friends could be described as such. Before SJWs, old people used to call young people apathetic. SJWs are making the world a better place, one issue at a time.

The concept of the SJW is based off of wildly and deliberately misinterpreting people based on the writings of a few hysterical teenagers.
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
I guess SJWs are bad cos they talk a lot of talk but don't walk a lot of walk, also sometimes they feel the need to shove their buthol in, even tho it's not even offensive to the person that was supposed to be offended
SW-User
Whilst berated, sjws are as valid as the extreme far right in order to maintain the centre, they are essential for free speech and free thought!
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@SW-User Not really. The Far Right at least expresses an idea. SJWs just scream and cry.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
Why is there a sudden wave of people calling for SJW support, what news story did I miss?

It's like this, SJWs don't get all their ideas out into the public but some do slip through. You'll see people talk abut the pink tax because they heard some SJW say it and it makes since when they only present half the information. SJWs are bad, if you are not an SJW then don't worry, I have the mind to believe that the recent SJW bolstering and deflection is actually coming from SJWs though.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Dude, it's not. I'm from a completely different tradition and think that SJW is a silly name for a politics that is not my priority

Personally, I posted because I've spent a lot of time on YouTube. The anti SJW thing is so overblown and so boring that it makes me want to agree with them. It's hard to find their videos though but check out contrapoints.
MartinII · 70-79, M
Can you tell me what SJWs are? Of course I know what the initials stand for and what the words mean, but is this an organisation, or independent individuals who choose to label themselves in this way? Do they stand for a specifically agreed agenda, or do different individuals advocate different things? Thanks.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII Its not a specific organisation. Some student activists call themselves social justice warriors, though its mostly used as an insult term. An SJW typically stridently defends the rights of minority groups. They are on the left of the cultural war but have little influence outside campus politics.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Burnley123 OK that’s helpful, thanks.

Yes I fucking hate SJWs! We are not all equal.
ButterFly2023 · 18-21, M
There is a video on this. Luckily it points out the obvious, to quote Gravity Kills, "You're guilty too."

Yes. They go against a lot of things that I stand for. Or go just repeat the same debunked argument.
katielass · F
I don't hate anyone, I feel sorry that they are so stupid ad allow themselves to be used.
JohnYahYah · 61-69, M
@katielass used by whom?
JM: Didn’t want to hijack your post so I posted my own in reply to yours.
