Do you hate SJWs?

On YouTube/Twitter/and other social media there seems to be so much hate for Social Justice Warriors. There are countless accounts devoted to pouring vitriolic ridicule on these people.

Okay, some of them are pretty funny. But there is so much energy spent on mocking them and really, there are so few SJWs out there. I'm thinking that its a mini moral panic and a group of people have found that its in there interests to manufacturer a hate group. What I'm saying, is that SJWs are less common than people have you believe. They just know that if they put out a video mocking SJWs, they are going to get a lot of clicks.

But ultimately, is what SJWs want so bad? Equality for women, equality for those who are ethnic minorities and equality of opportunity. What's so bad about that?

I agree completely and posted about the same thing.

My reading is that it's a gigantic strawman. Pick the silliest thing that a student SJW does and say: "Look at what the left is like." It's also a mechanism for re-framing things around a 'free speech' argument and conflating criticism with censorship. This way, the cultural right avoids having to talk about racism or treatment of minority groups and can focus on the mythical SJWs and 'cultural Marxists' from stopping them from speaking, though nobody is stopping you dumbasses from speaking and people are just exercising their own free speech to disagree with you.

The SJW thing also allows the cultural right to see themselves as a besieged minority group. Even though anti SJWs dominate the platform of YouTube and that any Google search reveals fifty anti SJW options and no platform created by SJWs themselves.

That in itself is revealing of the agenda here. Yes, some 19 year olds are immature and have some dumb dogmatic ideas. In other news, the Earth is round.

It would be just like if the political left dominated YouTube with thousands of videos saying that all Trump supporters were like Richard Spencer and that 'cultural fascism' is preventing our free speech. It's bonkers.

@Burnley123 I told you that the left even criticizes them because they make the left look bad, why do you keep acting as if it's just a war waged by the right?

@Jackaloftheazuresand Its mostly not the left who criticise them and the left is not a monolithic thing. Some on the left are progressive on economic issues and moderates on the culture war. What is called the left has a huge range of opinions.

In the Jim Crow era, you got the Dixiecrats who were pro segregation and also Keynesian. You get Marxists who are anti feminist brocialists and so on.

However, most of the anti SJW stuff does come from the right and the leftists who go along with it are wrong to do so. Maybe some are nor aware of the agenda, maybe some just want the clicks and maybe some are not actually left on a lot of issues.

@Burnley123 Yes they do, I even gave you the channels to watch. If you can say the right does something then of course the left is also a group.

How are they wrong?

@JackaloftheazuresandThe individual criticisms of Sjws on those channels are correct. Of course they are, or they wouldn't pick it as a straw man.

The point is, why pick that as a priority to criticise? The Amazing Atheist has a visceral hatred for Anita Sarkesian. She is just a boring average liberal feminist who talks about making some computer games more PC. Personally I think she is half way right but (as a leftist myself) I really don't care either way. I'm more interested in political economics, stopping the rise of the far right other aspects of the culture war.

Any youtube channel which caters to the needs and prejudices of a young, male and gamer audience will get a lot of clicks. If it can be framed as classical liberal, it can so reach an audience which is not predesposed to the political right.

The classical liberals who do this are enabling the right though because they are justifying the same narrative. Chris Hitchens (who is the father of the youtube skeptic community) used 'liberal' principles to justify the Iraq War. Sam Harris does something similar. If your main priority is to defend the right on free speech grounds and to frame left wing ideas as fringe (by emphasising the worst ones) then this can support a right wing agenda.

I know we disagree and I am debating stridently but I don't think you are a bad guy. I just disagree with your take on this. I think sometimes the left is wrong on cultural issues and that many young white men are in disadvantaged positions.
