I Believe In Forgiveness

Life really is too short.

Whenever I fight with with my S/O I remember something I heard when I was a teenager. I had a bf back then who's dad died. His mother attended a bereavement group where she met a young guy who had been on holiday in China with his gf. One night they had had a big row at the hotel and she had stormed off. After a while when she hadn't returned he went looking but found nothing. The next day she was found dead, she'd been attacked and murdered. He was devastated, but the worst thing, he said, was the fact that their last words had been in anger.

I never forgot his story and I always try to make up as quickly as possible...I hate to think that my last words to anyone I care for would be angry ones.

Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you were.

@sspec I think so too. Wish I could take credit for writing it. ;)
@Degbeme I thank you here for sharing the quote/s.

And yes, let us forget about all these futile IF/s.

Munching anything? 😌

@sspec ah ... danish. 😳

I have in the past taken this to extremes, refusing to allow someone space to calm down or think because I NEED to fix everything. I guess it's all about balance.

@CheshireCatalyst space is good but apologies should be made as soon as you calm down I think. I'm a lot better at avoiding an argument these days, if someone else is angry I'll be more inclined to ask why rather than counter with more anger.
I’ve known so many situations where someone’s last conversation with a loved one was a quarrel or harsh words. I try really hard not to leave things without resolution and peace, because you never know when it will be that last goodbye. I kissed my husband, kissed my little son one morning before leaving for work. And never saw them again. 😞
@SW-User No, I never remarried or had another child. I really respect that you were able to make a life for your son.

Thank you. I'm extremely proud of him.

You're so right. My s/o has never resolved a single conflict with me. After weeks of the silent treatment, she then wants to act like nothing ever happened. I can't continue with her.

@SW-User I think that's why everyone comes here, whether they admit it or not lol
SW-User
Talk to me....

@SW-User I'm alright today. I just checked in to make sure a few peeps were ok

I am the same.

Wish my ex had the same policy

Mine said the meanest things she could think of and let them stand. Mean angry woman.
ZenKitzune · F
@SW-User Mine emotionally abused me for 9 years. He would stand there while I tried to cook the kids lunches or wash dishes just endlessly picking at me and putting me down. He's a real piece of shit.

We have to go thru so much to learn that anger is bad and forgiveness is greater
Mysteriousliaisons · 56-60, M
Yes never wait to tell someone , for we never know if tomorrow never comes 🤗
amvanquish · 51-55, M
You make a very good point about forgiveness. I agree. I try to never hold a grudge.
SW-User
Alas, I am not so encumbered.
ZenKitzune · F
@SW-User This isn't just about having a significant other lol
SW-User
@ZenKitzune ah. Yeah, that either.

Hmm, for me it definitely has to be earned
