Is your Mom nice or mean?

Simplegirlstory · 31-35, F
She treats me like princess

She's dead, yes she was nice. Honest and kind, would have died for her children. Not very intelligent or particularly talented, but sincere, practical and loved life.

She's evil incarnate. A malignant narcissist who'd sell out any of her kids if it suited her purposes...and she has in the past.
RedRhapsody · 31-35, F
A needy, paranoid, controlling, combative, overbearing brat that will use up everything she can.. So no.

My Mother used to be a lot of things and our relationship was very strained...now she suffers from dementia and has mellowed quite a bit. I get along with her a lot better than I used to, but there are a lot of scars that just don't go away so the relationship still isn't where I wish it was. I just deal with it from day to day. My relationship with my entire family is severely damaged, it's sad to say but it's the truth that can't be avoided.

She’s nice but she takes no shit.
Nebula · 41-45, F
She sounds like me
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Good way to be, it demands respect where it’s due. @Nebula

She had time for everyone 💚

Nice but often just fakely nice. It's easy to spot because the pitch of her voice raises when she tries to be nice to people outside close family.
Nebula · 41-45, F
I know people like that
OpenlyHonestly · 31-35, F
@Nebula I used to find it annoying but then I realized that in many cases, I prefer fakely nice people over those who are just openly hostile. I've learned it through situations when I was a child and sometimes friends invited me to their homes. I was shocked when I saw how most parents didn't care that I was around and scolded their kids or were openly grumpy. I always assumed that it was obvious that they didn't want me there. My mom, no matter what, always showed some hospitality and tried to be as nice as possible. If she was displeased by something, she showed it only after "strangers" left. I don't say it's right but when children are involved, I think it's a better option.

Mine has always been emotionless and distant to me and my brothers, although my sister and her really bonded.
