I Have Something Random To Share

Insomnia sucks!!
I suffered from MAJOR insomnia a couple of years ago...up for 3 months straight except for the occasional 30 minute naps during my lunch hour. In my case, it was anxiety...even though I didn't show any other signs of anxiety...I was pretty chill and not stressed out at all. I ended up taking an anti-anxiety med and have been sleeping almost too well sense. I cut my dose in half because I felt like I was losing my day-time edge....and right now things seem semi-okay. (I still tend to stay up too late....but not from inability to sleep).

I hope you find some method to tackle this...because it truly sucks! And having people say "just get some sleep" doesn't help!

@FigNewton I would have never thought of anxiety being a culprit, but it does make a lot of sense! I honestly don't think it is stress related. I am ruling out things as I go along.
I also have my annual physical scheduled with my MD next week so I might bring it up then as well.
Thanks for your input! 😁
@skmokisses Lexapro is the meds I was prescribed....just FYI. :)

True and the whole season of college football coming up! I recommend focusing on something tearfully boring to put you to sleep. Can’t you read a super boring book?
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@Pfuzylogic I could I suppose, just hard to get into it when it’s super boring.

Helpfully you will be knocked out before your brain attempts comprehension!

Yes it's torture.

I used to be a small parts welder at an aerospace facility, and they unexpectedly moved me from 1st shift to 3rd. It was a nightmare. I would walk around in a daze, remembering nothing, I would fall asleep at my machine, I was a complete wreck and couldn't sleep during the day despite trying EVERYTHING- room darkening drapes, a soothing noise machine, a heated mattress pad, melatonin, sleeping medicine, benadryl, sleepytime tea, and meditation.

I eventually had to resort to knocking myself out with cough syrup, which I was extremely not happy to have to do.

Oh my goodness that sounds awful!! Plus it can’t be good knocking yourself out with cough medicine 🥺 @DearAmbellina2113

Same
@Miklee02 Well that's different from sleep
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@Miklee02 I know I should, I’ve tried.... *sighs*
I just can’t lie there starring into the darkness.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Miklee02 although you can drink to unconsciousness, it isn't really "sleep!" Most sleep specialists warn against the use of alcohol.

we're polar opposites. you're fighting to sleep, and I'm fighting to stay awake.

Relax your mind. Cleanse yourself and your inner circle. Then you will find sleep and peace. 🙂
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@Zonuss Good advice 🙂

Aw, thats one of my favourite movies. I am sorry you are having a hard time..have you got the blue light filter turned on, on your phone or computer, that helps.
