What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?

hunkalove · 61-69, M
Anything with Barbra Streisand or Whoopi Goldberg.
@hunkalove haha. Barbara can be funni. Not a fan of Whoopi either, but she is a decent actress.

@JustLikeGreta I can't stand to even look at either one of them.

Mh, Idk. There were so many scary films, mostly in the past, today it's all about the visual effect and an over-exposition of it. I think something really scary is made by the opposite of over-exposure, is made by mystery and suspense, not-showing instead of showing.
You know something dark is close, but what made it so scary is the fact they don't actually show this to you, and you're waiting for it, more and more disturbed. With some exception of course.

IT (1991) Not a terrifyng movie, a tv production maybe even boring in some parts. But the few minutes showing Tim Curry acting as Pennywise are, imho the most dreadful scenes of cinema. That Pennywise is pure terror, I've got little cold chills even writing about it. Tim Curry was amazingly great in other movies too.

Overall there are dozens of frightening movies deserving a watch, I can suggest some of them coming to my mind now. The Shining, The Exorcist, The Silence of Lambs, Suspiria, Deep Reed, Alien, M (The Monster of Dusseldorf), etc. Ok, more than the scariest these among the best in horror-terror genres..

Child’s play with Chucky and then they went and made those kid size dolls and it freaked me out!
@Keepitsimple I agree.

Jaws
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@JustLikeGreta I saw the shark all throughout the movie
@Deadcutie The mechanical shark had many problems. So mostly they show the entire shark at the end. Have seen documentaries on the making of Jaws. Great movie.

@Deadcutie when I was a toddler, I lived in Bondi beach area where the beach was a daily visit for us. Since I saw this scene in particular I never went near the water lol.[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CWSn-Zdi5w]

Both on youtube.
22 After
Which is a mockumentary about humans on the brink of extinction and how they survive.
And the documentary of the making of an unreleased movie “the grey state” if you knew the reason why that film ever finished production it will get one worried.

The Japanese original of The Grudge, I recall was almost unwatchable for me. I actually have very little memory of it for that reason, I believe :/

I was most terrified by a movie when i saw Che, the length of 2 movies, lots of tense jungle scenes 😫
@SW-User jungle scenes are always creepy.
TuxedoMask · M

Byron8by7 · M
The original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974).

It's what you don't see that is terrifying. I have seen it in the theater three times over the years, much scarier than on TV.

The Amityville Horror
@TheSirfurryanimalWales very scary to me.
Peaches · F
@PhoenixPhail I was gonna say that too!
Peaches · F
Someone already said it, but I think The Exorcist was the scariest movie ever! I remember people getting up and leaving the theater when Linda Blair started stabbing herself with the cross.
