There is a straight pride parade being organized....

Is this something that is necessary?

Or is this being done to slight the LGBT community?

What are your thoughts?
SW-User
Yes, it's stupid. It's done out of spite and shows complete ignorance of why LGBT pride even started in the first place. It's the result of people who can't stand when the attention is not on them. They think a lack of attention is an attack. It betrays their insecurity.

@Synyster See above. Heterosexuals have been discriminated against for the entirety of history and the LGBTQ+ community needs to see that they're not going away without a fight.

@SW-User This is the problem with equal rights. The @$$holes get to be equal too.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@whowasthatmaskedman I've yet to see large groups of LGBTQ+ demanding that cities not hold "straight pride" parades or forcing city government buildings to remove "straight pride" flags.

I think it sends a message, just do your thing and stop pushing it on everyone. Read an article the other day GLADD says support among young people (18-34) has dropped for the second year in a row. They plan on beefing up their efforts to shove it down everyone's throat. The comments under the article said......Support is down because we are tired of it. Just stop trying to tell us what to think.

@curiosi Before this year I was pretty left-leaning, but I find myself drifting towards the right, not because the right has a better ethos, but because I am sick of the thought-police, SJW bullshit that the left has been pushing recently.

They seem to have forgotten that it's not just THEIR opinions and thoughts that count. But they are living in an echo chamber and can only hear their own 'righteous' opinions, and if anyone dares to disagree even slightly then they must be some sort of 'ist'.

It's not a healthy mind-set for an individual to have, let alone a 'movement'.
When you think about it...

A parade for being genetically straight is just as fucking ridiculous as having one for being, left-handed, or red-headed... Or LGBT for that matter.

@daisymay You can't oppress a superior force, lol

You can only oppress when you are in a position of power and authority.

The current plan of being out and loud and proud and as camp as possible isn't a) working, or b) representative of the majority of LGBT people. As I say, it's pretty much damaging relations these days because so many people are sick to death of it. In fact, people are generally sick of being told what they can say, what they can think, how they are supposed to react. You push folks far enough, and eventually they start to push back. The far-left just doesn't understand this because they are so caught up in their own self-righteousness.

@Quizzical Having a pride parade isn't pushing things.
In fact, people are generally sick of being told what they can say, what they can think, how they are supposed to react.
Well, I guess they should work to change the laws that force them to do those things....oh, hey wait a minute!
so many people are sick to death of it
You mean bigots. I honestly don't give a shit what a bigot thinks.

I'm done trying to convince you to be an ally, I will not beg for being allowed to exist and I resent your insinuation that I should. Goodbye now.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@daisymay I'm not an ally... I'm actually part of the LGBT community. I guess you missed me saying that earlier though.

And no these people are not bigots, they are just normal, everyday folks getting tired of being dictated to and having ideologies (from both sides of the political spectrum admittedly) rammed down their throats.

But the community can keep on with this current strategy if they want to. I just predict stronger and stronger backlashes against it.

Subtlety is far more useful in most situations than screaming defiance.

These are thinly disguised anti gay rallies.

awww...poor straight people....SO oppressed, demonized, discriminated against and murdered for being straight

Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
If I were to call it objectively, I'd say that for real equality it should be fine.
If I were to consider reality, i'd say it's stupid..

Problem is, even if some people are turning up/organising for a joke (I suspect it's just a big troll) it'll attract or embolden the anti-gay folk, and the media will probably make it more sensational which might cause a knock on effect.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Ryannnnnn I can't wait for Westboro Baptist to endorse all the "straight pride" parades. Then I'll get to say things like "all straight people endorse Westboro Baptist Church" and point to their parades as proof.

Sorry, straights, you're all bigots now 🤷‍♀️
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@daisymay Haha and the culture wars continue..god the world is stupid today.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Ryannnnnn I'm just playing in the playground they demanded we have.
daisymay · 51-55, T
I know I'm going to get called a flaming libtard, but whatever, I have this to say:

The poor, oppressed straight community needs to be heard, else they will be forever lost to history.

The Homosexual Agenda has all but wiped out heterosexuals in our once great metropolitan cities. It's only a matter of time before their last vestiges in the heartland are eradicated.

People should really be more respectful to those sad, demonized folk.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Calling it a “Straight Pride” parade is slighting the LGBT community, as it disregards the reason why LGBT pride parades were started in the first place (to bring attention to the mistreatment/discrimination against/murder of those who were LGBT simply because of the fact that they were LGBT).
If straight people feel threatened by the present and how that will affect their future I don’t see how it could be considered slighting.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Clearly it is necessary for educational purposes
I think they just call it a parade
gurlwatcher22 · 61-69, M
....sounds like equality to me.

Lilnonames · F
