The point at which you will (or may) change your mind about Covid vaccines is... ?

It seems there is a whole spectrum of decision points at which people may change their mind about covid vaccines.

Many people just get them because they're sheeple. Many people just get them because they accept everything they are told without question.

If someone has got a vaccine then regrets it how do you undo it?

Where is the 'tipping point' where a large majority will just go 'ho hum' and accept being jabbed with something that don't understand anything about?

"they accept everything they are told without question."

Right like fear mongering about vaccines.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@zonavar68 I'm not fearful, I'm prudent. Obviously vaccines developed this quickly are not zero risk. However, they are low risk. I have yet to see someone articulate what the hell a vaccine gone bad is supposed to do to me. Worst I'm aware of is a handful of blood clots, and my chances of a lottery win are higher.

Meanwhile covid is a horrifying disease that carries potential long-term health consequences. It has also killed an astonishing amount of people in a short amount of time. Not to mention all the fucking lockdowns which are psychologically devastating on people.

Like, what's your solution? Do lockdowns for ten years until you're satisfied with the vaccines?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@CountScrofula Someone was telling me that many have died right after the he shot. But I don't believe that was Proven. They stopped J and J for several blood clots and one death. 🙁But If there were MANY dying from any of the vaccine s it makes sense they'd stop the use to reevaluate. I think you're right that clot is a risk but it's VERY low. I will get the shot because the statistics are that millions HAVE BEEN OK even after several months with it. I'd rather get a shot than to get COVID😔
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Coralmist Right. Like the vaccines are monitored carefully and there's been a few stops because of blood clots but it's been shown the blood clots are so rare, the vaccines are still way safer than covid.

It's not hard to understand. Covid vaccines will not prevent everyone from contracting the illness, but it does have a 100% success rate at keeping the illness from becoming deadly in those vaccinated, and it severely lessens the probability of the illness becoming critical. This will be the new normal. Vaccines for those who want to avoid serious illness, and those that choose to forgo it will take their chances, just like the flu vaccine, except covid is more transmissible. Covid will be part of the global landscape from here on out.

@zonavar68 what do you mean covid insurance? Insurance for what specifically?
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@EuphoricTurtle Covid. That specifically. You can't because no vaccine is 'mainstream' approved yet. They're all 'experimental' with 'emergency use authorisation' only.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@zonavar68 Once again you're going to have to be more specific than just saying COVID. Are you talking about testing, treatment, vaccination, what are you referring to specifically?
For instance, my insurance covers COVID tests and treatment.

Who regrets getting a vaccine ?
You’ve seen what happens to some if they contract covid. What’s to say you wouldn’t be one of them ?
Or your Aunt and Uncle or your parents ?
This covid thing is indiscriminate. It doesn’t care who you are !

When you use words like ‘sheeple’ you plummet your point of view to worthless because it’s a clear sign you’re not interested in either the virus; the vaccine; the facts of Covid-19 nor the necessity as to why it’s imperative everybody has it.

When, in the history of democratic governance, has ANY government EVER made a vaccine OPTIONAL ?
And why are the U.S. government choosing to treat Coronavirus so DESPITE the numbers dead from it already at home ?

Are you watching the news ?
Anything about India on your newsfeed ?
If not, ask yourself why.
Then go to Reuters or BBC or any other countries news stations and see the scale of what this thing is doing !

Mass funeral pyres in the middle of the street.
Some losing entire families !

Which of us is the ‘sheeple’ in this scenario ?
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@Picklebobble2 So you are going down the road where you believe Covid vaccine should be forced on everyone, and then you'll want to make flu vaccines mandatory too? ... The sheeple are anyone who doesn't step back and make an informed judgement on what's going on. We have *free choice* whether or not to get vaccinated (except in Israel). Forcing mandatory acceptance by stealth (putting restrictions on what people who decline covid vaccines can do or where they go) is socialist and totalitarian.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@zonavar68 Ok. Word of advice. SEPARATE THE ISSUES THAT ANNOY YOU.
Because in that light your argument is at least UNDERSTANDABLE !

1. You haven’t denied this thing exists, nor have you offered any evidence to support that.

2. Your government telling you to get vaccinated is sensible given the evidence that some protection from a vaccine is better than none without.
Especially in light of the numbers dead in your country already !

3. ‘Forced vaccination’ as you choose to call it, is what ended EVERYTHING from bubonic plague to Lockjaw ! So it makes sense to let scientists define what’s going on and how to deal with y.

4.and then you use words like ‘Socialist’ and ‘Totalitarian’ as if either are relevant to the medical emergency going on around the world right now in its multiple variants.

Get a grip !
Be pissed at the right things !

There literally is nothing to regret. I've been getting vaccines for years (and so has much of the US) and it all seems good.

My wife and I (and it seems like a lot of other people too) have been discussing the mask mandates ending. She says it's too soon. I argue that it makes sense.

The people who were wearing masks and social distancing are now vaccinated. People who didn't take masks and social distancing seriously are not vaccinated. Hence, I don't care anymore.

So... it really doesn't matter to me. I'm not going to be hospitalized if I get COVID. I know it. I am just going to live my day now.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
I'm guessing you feel the same way in relation to any other vaccination, medication or medical procedure right?
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@EuphoricTurtle No. I make a decision based on the merits to me. I've never had a flu vax. don't need one. I've had vaccinations for things when my daughter was born mid-2017. I had tetanus, etc. vax in the mid-90's when I last travelled outside Australia. But there is no *100 percent* compelling case to have a Covid vaccine.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@zonavar68
But there is no *100 percent* compelling case to have a Covid vaccine.
If taking a vaccine for a global pandemic that has killed millions isn't compelling then I don't really see what compelled you to take a tetanus shot
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Remember the topic is what would make a person change their mind about getting a vaccine, either to go from not wanting it to wanting it, or the other way around...
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
No vaccine for me either. My choice. I live with my choices and accept the outcomes.
