Man things must be tough

I got two door to door salesmen trying to convince me to switch to Verizon.

Could you do that for a living? Id rather clean offices or flip burgers. That has to be a tough one, ring some strangers bell and go into a rehearsed bullshit story about how I can’t live without Verizon WiFi

In England and Wales, not sure about the rest of the UK, you can have your street design designated as a ‘No Cold Callers Area’. All you need is the agreement of the neighbours, a sign at the end of the street and a sign on everybody’s door. I organised it in my street, and it’s worked really well. Only two people were reported to their companies and word seems to have got around and it’s years since anyone’s rang my doorbell without an appointment.

I wonder why I’ve got no friends. 😆

Yes, I agree. A tough way to make a living.
@Teslin we had a severe hail storm in May, 2014. they had to send plows out to clear streets. while nothing seemed apparent it turned outto do over $30000 damage to our roof, siding , shutters and gutters

@saragoodtimes WOW !! I hope your insurance covered what you expected and there wasn't a big issue?
@Teslin all we paid was the $1000 deductable. the insurance adjuster found things the contractor didn't.

I would absolutely loathe to be a salesperson. Like you I would rather push a mop or work at a fast food restaurant.
don't open my door to anybody I don't know. it's too secluded here
Same .. could not do that

@FreeSpirit1 Virgin media called round my place. I'm pay £56 for a phone line and internet right now and I don't know shit about the market.

@Matt85 Verizon’s trick when they get the fiber blown in is they offer 1/2 of what the competitor(s) charge guaranteed for 6 months or a year. Then the cost goes up for more. You get a letter in the mail. So I got an idea to call my current provider , Cox Communications. I told them what Verizon was offering. She said right away, “we can match that for six months and raise it back to only 90% of that cost for a year.”. “Do it.” That was 2010ish.
