I'm kind of amazed

How many people said to my post about my son's coworker:

"People lie"

Okay, so, who cares if someone lies to get out of work.

Why should people have to lie to get a day off? Why can't people just say, "Hey, I need to take today off?" Why are they forced to make up situations just to get time off?

Why is it okay for an employer to have to have an excuse? Why does an employer get to dictate what is an acceptable reason to take time off?

"They are just lazy"

So what? Who cares? If they are just lazy, they will be fired and life will move on. Why do you care that there are lazy people in the world? It makes work harder for you? Then set your work boundaries. Your employer needs you more than you need them, even in this economy. Hiring and training a new employee is expensive.

Sometimes, I think the resentment of people lying to not work is that the liar gets something someone else doesn't for lying, and they don't stop to think why the employer expects any sort of excuse as to why you need time off.

Stop being resentful and start expecting your employer to stop treating you like a child.

Adults shouldn't have to lie to an employer. Adult employers shouldn't need an excuse when someone wants a day off. The fact that employers make it so people have to lie is disgusting. The fact there are so many people taking the employer's side is gross.

You are not beholden to your employer. Ever. And your employer doesn't deserve your subservience simply because they pay you.

You would if you ran a business

Why should people have to lie to get a day off?

They don't. It's called a holiday and sick leave allowance.

Why do you care that there are lazy people in the world?

Anyone who has worked in teamwork knows why.
@FoxyQueen I'd love to work for you 🤭

@BritishFailedAesthetic I think I'd be an awesome boss.

But what I described, the getting work done, regardless of time off,is heavily based in what actual meritocracy is supposed to be in business, not what it has become. What it has become is hating employees who take time off as "not being a team player" and the puritan ideology of "Idleness is a sin", which, neither are true, but have been learned institutionally, despite how damaging it is to the human body and spirit.

We can both agree there!

I think everyone lies to get out of work you’ve never done it

@Monalisasmith86 So what? What does it matter? And why do they have to lie?

Why can't we expect employers to simply accept a newd for a day off?

@FoxyQueen well when you’re new your supposed to want the job not take a day off

@Monalisasmith86 Okay, but in the case I used in my previous post, the guy's dad killed himself infront of his family. The employer told him to prove it.

How is that a guy just wanting a day off?

Also, so he wants the first day off. Maybe he wasn't ready yet. Who cares?

Why do you care if he wants a day off for any reason?
