I wish you could find a job by availability.

I have zero help with my son so I'm limited as to where I can work. I would do almost anything if I could just have the hours I need. I would do customer service, I would shovel pop, I would clean grease traps... Just please allow me to still be there for my child.

prospective employers take the piss
@Matt85 what do you mean?

@Matt85 yeah it definitely used to be a lot more simple. Most places would drug test you.

And I get they have a business to run and don't want to deal with people's personal needs.

I'm finding a lot lately that they'll advertise a job with certain hours and pay, you apply and interview, then they call and offer you a different job with a different shift.

It's weird.

@MarbleMarvel They really shouldn't do that. I think it's time someone restricted what they can and can't do lol. I know there are some rules regarding fairness in recruiting disabled people and ethnics but I think that's all there is.

@MarbleMarvel a lot of places do this along with keeping listings when they aren't really hiring or interested in hiring.

A lot of it comes down to a few things. Too cheap and lazy to make a new accurate posting, lie to get people in the door, or listing positions they aren't actually trying to fill just to collect applications for when they do let someone go in that slot or to just keep people in that position walking and eggshells.
My company does all these things and they flat out admit these obvious reasons.
