I'm exhausted...

I usually let this information slip in some of my posts or comments when talking about something else and never really complained about it but...

I'm exhausted.

Waking up everyday before sunrise (sometimes the insomnia makes me get up earlier, or sleep very late.)

Working every single day, sometimes staying 03 hours after time, sometimes until sunset...

Four to five 24h shift a month, sometimes it lasts till 30 or 36... including the weekend, so I'd go up to 02 and sometimes 03 (but rarely 04) weeks on a row without a single day off.

Let alone the work at home, the studying for the cases at home to pull off a fitting diagnosis and the entailed management strategies.

But sometimes... I wonder why I get myself tired this much... why do I allow myself to be exhausted this much.
I am not even in surgery or anything, what I do is purely medical reasoning. But I do have a lot of patients. Sometimes complicated cases.

Right now, I am sitting... waiting for a friend on bunch outside of the hospital... literally nodding off. I decided to write this while waiting, lest I let sleep claim me.

Do what is necessary to do your job...and use your tremendous intellect to UNDERSTAND and RESPECT your own physical limits, so that you can continue on. If you don't NEED to stay 3 hours late, don't.

Yeah...
After the work that's done during the working hours, EVERYTHING has to be written down in the patient's folders. Sometimes I have up to 06 patients. So I got to write the scientific discussion and detailed evolution as well... it's so tiresome. And if my patient is not doing well, I can't help but stay an extra hour to stabilize things in order not to leave it to the resident who's at night who doesn't know my patient as much.
Perhaps I work more than I should, perhaps I do overwork myself... perhaps the problem is me...

@Friendlyperson Do not allow your own health to suffer, or you won't BE there to help ANYONE. Sometimes common sense must rule.

Yeah, I have to take extra care of my mental health, what with my condition and all.
Sometimes I hate myself for being the overly hyper conscious person and overworker. I think I need to change. I need to manage my time better and make resting a priority. May God help me achieve that...
