Phishing Test

My workplace sent out a fake phishing email and I responded. I had to take a remedial security course - so embarassing :P

Best policy is to never reply to any email ==> safety problem solved 😏
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@helenS That is basically my practice now :P
helenS · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn Even mails from beautiful girls? 😌
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@helenS I don't get those lol
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
LOL, we do the same thing here. They caught me once, too, with something that was impersonating LinkedIn. But it's worthwhile training--the consequences can be so severe from a breach.

@Harmonium1923 Very true. My workplace actually had a huge ransom attack this year and put us out of action in the office for a couple of months! It was in the news and everything.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Harmonium1923 This was the first time I fell for it.

@JimboSaturn
My workplace actually had a huge ransom attack this year and put us out of action in the office for a couple of months! DrWatson · 70-79, M
We have to do a security course every month.

By now I've caught on that I can expect a phishing email a few days afterwards.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Don't feel too bad, we do this at my place and a LOT of people get tripped up by these.

Just don't let it happen again...we track this stuff ya know....😉
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SumKindaMunster Yep, I learnt my lesson, I'm never answering another email :P
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@JimboSaturn Exactly. If its important they will contact you again.
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
@JimboSaturn Straight to the recycle bin.
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
Ohhh i have to do these courses every 6 months, mandatory for all employees.
Bearsfan67 · 56-60, M
It’s happened to me too. Some of those are pretty convincing.
deadgerbil · 22-25
What's your excuse
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@deadgerbil None.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Fell for this myself!!
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
Hmmm, makes me wonder what the message was.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@IamCuriousBabe It was a fake message from our IT department
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
@JimboSaturn Was wondering how it was composed.
UKNaturist · M
We had one of those the other week - luckily I spotted it
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Oh My 🙄
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Oh my. I'm not sure if we do that where I work. Though we have mandatory security courses for all employees every year. I only use my work email for work purposes and automatically ignore anything coming from outside the company.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@ViciDraco It was a fake intercompany email.

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SW-User It would appear so. But actually I'm gen X pretty much the same when it comes to phising

@JimboSaturn it’s ok I’m on the border of Millennial/Z and I got got the other day too
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Was it about that ? My uncle passed away leaving 10 million, and i need your bank account to transfer, for which you have to send 1000 bucks to prove it's a valid bank account? And you sent
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Donotfolowme It was a fake email from our IT department.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@JimboSaturn ohhh okay that one.. which says "Awesome job, we were testing your skills"
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
Wow, you're really the kind of person that clicks weird emails..? You're old enough to know better dude
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@MartinTheFirst It was more sophisticated than the usual "weird email"
