Work stories: Why are cart pushers the laziest grocery store employees?

I work in a huge grocery store. It’s crazy busy all the time. We have a lot of employees, and each of us are crazy characters in our own rights however, the guys out in the parking lot who gather carts and bring them in have to be the SORRIEST, LAZIEST beings!

Our cart guys…..

1. Smoke cigarettes while working,

2. They hit customers cars with the carts and then blame the damage on meteorites

3. They watch portable DVD players while on the clock

4. Demand that all other store employees bow when they walk by

5. One of them steals slushies from the machine when they go on break.

What the hell? Any thoughts on this?

My store is essentially a mental asylum. Just today a customer threw a empty bottle of DayQuil at the customer service desk, because he used it all and wanted a refund for it, because he said “he still had a stuffy nose”

Sounds more like your particular store and the specific people they’ve hired. It’s not necessarily a feature of the job or true of everyone who does it.

Yes sorry, it’s just frustrating. Because we get pulled to the lot to help them…because they don’t do anything. I work in another department. Also yesterday one of the lot guys quit, because he asked the manager for a 195,000 dollar raise and they said no.

@SW-User I’m sorry, it is difficult working alongside people who create problems because they won’t do their jobs. But that is those individuals. 🙁

Our customers are insane too. A few days ago a customer came up to our maintenance guy and said “Had chili for lunch and the men’s room needs attention……got no aim, hope you got gloves and a pressure washer”
