If they are requiring you to work 12 hour shifts but only paying you for 8, that may be a violation of labor laws. Unfortunately, I have no idea how you could use that to help your situation.

You need to address that with HR because they are legally required to pay you what they owe you otherwise they are violating work laws
I have never had issues when I bring it up with hr. Yeah, she gets a little pissy but she can gtfo over it. That’s her job, to sit in that office and do payroll. one time my job had to back pay me six months and it was so much I ended up taking the entire month off 😂

Are you in the States? Or have you gone paying taxes regularly so if you happen to quit..you’ll still get better compensation.

@Sepia I am in the US and if I quit I won't get unemployment
Sepia · 36-40, F
@SW-User oooh I see..if it is taken so much of you just take a time off 🙂
SW-User
@Sepia they won't approve me I tried :(
keep a log of the hours worked and the hours they pay you for . go to the aclu. and they will help you. that is what they do. mark

Everyone cocks up now and again. That’s why they put erasers on the end of pencils. Seriously though, it sounds like they don’t have any respect for you or what you’re doing. Do you have a trade Union?

@Mrjingleswilly I'm stuck with being taken advantage of and overworked with a reduced salary. My only option would be to sue them or file a formal complaint but I don't think it would really make a difference

@SW-User Canada is a much more worker friendly country. I can't believe what some Americans say about their employers.
@SW-User are you working for marine bob? he lowered the wage of his union employ.

So… I mean they’re screwing up by not paying you for the hours you work, you’re entitled to some screwups in return
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
@SW-User Sadly typical business attitude… but this is extreme
Mrjingleswilly · 51-55, M
@KingofPizza2 it’s getting common now. Employers don’t give a toss because they know they can pick up someone else easily.

@SW-User Maybe speak to a lawyer, or shame them on social media.

What job is it? What other skills do you have?

@nonsensiclesnail I can't afford to take a severe pay cut. Its only me there is no way to pay my housing and bills without a livable wage. I have no backup or way to survive without my wages or I certainly would have quit a long while ago
nonsensiclesnail · F
@SW-User absolutely true for all of us most likely, the pay cut bit that is. I’m certainly not implying that you haven’t thought this through and your fears are absolutely real! I’m just hoping that maybe you’ve missed something. That there is a solution that will work for you,
SW-User
@nonsensiclesnail I am looking for sure and hoping there is because this is hell and I want out
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
So you've been working 12 hours and they only pay you for 8? How long has that been happening?
