How many hours a day do you actually spend working?

Like, the actual productive kind. May or may not exactly include your whole shift hours because let's be honest... working all those hours by the dot nonstop is a recipe for drainage and humans' average attention span typically lasts seconds.

About 4 hours. I am retired now.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
11-12 hours, basically non-stop. I take 3 15-minute breaks (at best). It's a taxing grind, but I prefer to be that way since it's mentally soothing being able to throw myself into my work like that. I get to avoid awkward social interactions or dwelling too much on unproductive thoughts. There's not much I want to talk about anyway, so work gives me a convenient excuse to be brief and withdrawn

3 hours max
Casheyane · 31-35, F
@switchfoot freelance?
switchfoot · 36-40, M
@Casheyane no, full time. Only the productive hours, work from home sucks
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
There is no handover time at work between shifts. Afternoon shift goes home at 22:30 hours I clock on at 22:30 hours. I work to 07:08 hours but should knock off at 07:00 as the morning shift starts but I like to finish whatever it is I am doing. There is 126 Residents and only 5 Carers. I don't stop. If I'm lucky I'll get my break at 05:30 and only get about 20 minutes when I should be getting 30.

@Thevy29 Why do you not change jobs?
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@Casheyane I'm trying. Haven't had a job interview in awhile.. I don't have a drivers licence. Its a major turn off most employers.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I'm done with measuring it. I tried last month and the average was 5 hours 30 minutes.

Out of the 7,6 on my contract, I'm pretty sure I do about 8/9 hours depending on the day. Last friday (transport included), it was 13,5 hours.
kimmy159 · F
@Casheyane I get paid pretty well, my boss considers it more like 'part of the job' 😅
Casheyane · 31-35, F
@kimmy159 ahh well, cheers to work life balance. It's you who knows if it's worth it or not for you. :)

@Casheyane I've started this job in January, and it has always been up so far, but lately, management is taking a lot of decisions over everyone's head without involving anyone. Now I'm not so sure anymore if it is.

FrozenWasteland · 61-69, M
Anywhere between 2 and 14, depending on the day -- and the sense of ugency that my clients project.

I'd prefer around 5 on average, but it doesn't often seem to work out that way.
Iwillwait · M
Anywhere from 4-9 6 days a week.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M

Casheyane · 31-35, F
