do you ever feel like half your time at work is spent fixing other people's mistakes?

they've been corrected so many times and they just don't give a shit 馃槨

There were two ways of doing a project assigned to me. I did it the way my supervisor told me to. While I was engrossed, the nosy department secretary (AKA Nancee) came by. She stopped, looked over my shoulder and said, "You know, you can do thus and so.."

I ignored her and continued the way the boss wanted me to. I was just finishing and gathering my atuff when Nancee came back. She saw I didn't do it her way and she yelled so everyone heard, "Why did you do it that way when I told you NO?"

I didn't reply, but took it in to my supervisor. She took one look and said, "I heard. I'll take care of it."

I later heard her giving Nancee the third degree.
My husband used to complain about this, he became seen as a fixer. He was often hired in because hes very capable at his job, but suspected that they hired him to fix their issues. He wanted to create! not fix. But over time, this skill made him sought after. They pay him very well to do this. So, he creates in his spare time, when he has any.
Being the fixer has value. But, it sort of sucks.

@nonsensiclesnail Nancee used to do that kind of work before she got promoted. She thought she was always RIGHT. I did it because the supervisor said so.

It was like that at first and some people thought they could use me as a escapegoat. But not anymore, I think I can now handle such situations way better than before...
It's literally how I spent the first two to three hours of my shift every day
