Is it weird to send this email?

I'm leaving my job really soon.

There is a chick who is really nice. I think we met in a work training or something about 1 year ago.

She works in a different department and had worked n a different building until recently. She works in a different area now, but within the same building.

Everyone is in a shared office so I don't want to go to her and be like,
➡️➡️➡️ "hey, I'm leaving so let's exchange numbers and keep in contact"

I don't want everyone else knowing and "asking me questions.

Is it weird to put that in an email?

I literally just say her yesterday. I spoke to her but I didn't tell her cause there was too many people around (social anxiety 😔)
If left as it is, you probably won't be in touch with her. You would like to be.

You're leaving this job and won't see anybody from there unless you want to.

If she says no, things stand as they are. If she says yes, you'll have a potential friend.

Where's the risk?

@Mamapolo2016 just thought of what?
@iamnikki That you didn't have her number.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 huh? I'm confused. But I'll send the email

the only tiny details I might change are "I'm leaving (add name of workplace)..." to make it clear you're not just leaving for lunch or finishing early. also I'd add something a bit more personal like "I'd like to stay in contact with you" sounds less impersonal then "lets stay in contact". just suggestions 🤷‍♂️

@reflectingmonkey thank you!

No, not at all. "I like you and I'd like to keep in touch after I leave." Perfectly reasonable.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DunningKruger I'm not saying " I like you" to a female, but I get your drift
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@iamnikki It doesn't necessarily mean you want to date, just that you want to be her friend.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DunningKruger I know, but in today's world, innocent wording often have alternate meanings. For example "thirsty" nowadays means desperate for a boyfriend/girlfriend/s3x
iamnikki · 31-35, F
So I did it! And she gave her number. New friend 😊 lol!
I'm such a square ⬛🤣
@iamnikki 😁 That's great!

I have done it before, no weirdness.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
Nope just do it
Sepia · 36-40, F
try to catch up with them..even after you leave
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Sepia how? I don't have any way to contact her once I leave

Emailing is perfectly appropriate under the circumstances 🙂

Not weird at all.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
No, just go ahead and do it.
