Any females that have been a dishwasher?

After my divorce, because I love to cook and because I had some minor catering experience, I decided to try my hand at working in a restaurant. I lasted through the 6 week training, and for about 3 weeks after that. I couldn't deal with the back pain.

I washed dishes when they were all dirty and I needed a certain sized pan, and I can tell you that if you wash dishes without being forced to do it, you are lowering yourself in the pecking order. Big mistake. The restaurant where I worked was small, and we had to do the dishes by hand, even the frying baskets.

I also worked at a cafeteria as a volunteer, and they had a nice dishwasher set up. No stigma there.

I washed dishes before a few nights when someone called out. It's a often man's job and often and if someone dosent speak English or an older person they like it because of the lack of customer interaction. You stink at the end of shifts and you can literally feel dumped on when servers throw all kinds of crap in your area.I would not want to do it because you are young and it will slow down your social life even just while at the restuarant you will be a lowly dishwasher. Serving makes more money. Think of your handsome crush waiter giving you old chicken bones to clean up all night.
