Psychologist or Social Worker which is in demand?

As mentioned. Which has more demand than supply, or a decent salary overtime?

You can earn a decent living with both, but highly unlikely that there will be any overtime as you would be an exempt employee. And, if you have your own practice, that has to be managed by the number of hours you will work in a day. Psychologist requires a PhD, whereas a Master's Degree will allow you to become an LCSW, so lower cost of entry for a salary that is in a similar range. It depends upon what you want to do, since both psychologists and LCSWs can be therapists, but if you want to teach, a PhD, and PsyD/PhD to reach higher levels of practice in the field.

To earn decent money as a social worker you'd prob need a psych degree

@Azoica: doing masters takes time. Your time is more valuable. What I did is psych degree and I specialized. Into two particular fields. Because psych degree is not valuable. But ur experinec is valuable

@DaveLiam78: What field did you specialised in?

Hmm that makes sense. Masters require a lot of money and time to pursue.
So I may or may not pursue that depending on how I fair for the course.

Yeah I have seen a fair bunch of people who end up being teachers or HR with a Psychology Degree.

So my main question is:
I'm not sure whether I want to be a Psychologist / Something people related like HR or a Social Worker.

So should I pursue a Psychology Degree or a Social Work Degree?

@Azoica: you should go shadow an hr person or psychologist

Decent salary, not social workers....
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
No we do not.
Azoica · 26-30, F
Could you tell me more about your experience? (Assuming that you work as one)
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
Most of the work is in non profit. You get basically minimum wage. You can move up with a master's, but my brother who didn't even finishing college earns more them me after a few years. The work is mostly very intensive, long hours, bad pay and very unappreciated. It can be very rewarding but also extremely stressful

i think theyre both equally in demand

Social workers don't get a lot of overtime.
