What do you do if....

...you don't want to work 8 hour days for the rest of your life, but you still need to make money to live.

No, I will not resort to selling myself, or just being a bum on the street panhandling, nor will I use someone for moneys sake.

I know everyone likes to say " Start A Business", but what can I do that hasn't already been done? Why would they come to me and not Walmart and Amazon? What would I sell?

My life is sort of just starting in a way. I'm about to graduate college and I'm like, I really don't want to work 8 hour days, 5 days a week.
I know someone is gonna say " welcome to being an adult/the real world". To them I say, I've been an adult and have been in the real world. I've had full time jobs before, some of them I held while going to school full time. Now that is about to be all behind me.

Then if you live far from your job, you gotta spend even more time commuting to and from, and getting ready to go to work... I just don't want to work my whole life away, that's all.

😭😕

Work to live. Don't live to work.

If there's something non-traditional that works for you, go for it!

@hlpflwthat I know, but once you get off from an 8 hour day, you're tired, stiff and want to go home😭. What do/did you do for a living? I'm open to PM

I don't think many people do, but unless you win the lottery or inherit a lot of money this is life.

Well if you think about it 8 hours isn’t all that much. Some people work 12 hour shifts everyday. 8 hours is only a third of your day. I can’t really help you though you’ll have to figure something out.

@MURD3RM0NK3Y Yep, I've worked 12 hour days before, and it was terrible. Some times we had to work mandatory over time. Then I sat in traffic on the way home, whether I took the freeway or backroads. Took an hour or more to get home. And I was in school then. I was thinking about this experience the other day and it was one of the most miserable times of my life.

Buy a RV , drive around North America (assuming you reside here) work odd jobs for food and fuel and live the life of the road. Think Mad Max in moderation among the cities and towns of the modern western world.

I got into sales at a early age and made a lot of money,(outside sales). You can generally work your own hours as a commissioned sales rep and still make good money.
You need to find things you’re passionate about and set up your day accordingly with stuff you enjoy. Also plan your vacations accordingly.

Self-employment, freelancing, something to do with the gig economy maybe? What'd you major in?

be an inventor and discover something cheap to manufacture and that everyone will want...easier said than done.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@iamnikki I have heard of simple people inventing something that made them one million $$$ in one year... the fold-up cardboard windshield thing for cars did that.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti really? I don't even know where you'd start with inventing. I saw a flyer at school for a seminar on how to start a business. I thought about going but didn't want to pay the $25. Also didn't want them asking me " so what business do you want" and "why are you here today".
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@iamnikki You definitely need to know how to file for a patent.

A business takes more time if you're going to make it successful.

Finding something you love to do is the key because then it doesn't feel like work.
