Full-time employees where I work automatically get paid for holidays whether they work then or not. They have us take a day off in the same week sometimes though. I'll be off anyway the day after but I'll still get holiday pay. Nothing about working the day before or after in order to get the holiday pay.

@signmeupforthat - not with my company it's a rule for everyone. We are paid for the holiday but we have to work our last scheduled day before it and the first scheduled day after it. If You have time off available you can take a pre scheduled day off before or after it. If I had today off I'd still get paid for my holiday but if I had called off yesterday I would not have been paid.
If I call off today I won't get paid for Monday.
Newbies don't get paid for holidays until after their 120 day probationary period.

I'm thinking more about a wedding this weekend than anything else. 🤔

That only applies to unions and hourly O/T at my university. Not for professionals
