Where would you secretly place a letter you have written to an old building you are leaving ?

I am housekeeper in an old house and have written the building a little note dated with Roman Numerals which I do not want to be found by anyone.

Depends on the details of the building, how old it is.

Are there built-in drawers? Take out the top drawer, tape it to the underside of whatever is above the top drawer. Or tape it to the underside of some drawer. Is there a suspended ceiling anywhere? Above a random ceiling tile in a corner. Or you may even be able to drop it down inside a wall behind the plaster. Is there a crawl space above the top floor ceiling? Should be plenty of options up there. Are there big air vents? Take off the vent cover and see if you can slip it between the vent & the plaster so it's outside the vent in the wall space. Fold it up and stick it in an electric box behind a socket?

@ElwoodBlues It is 1820's . Thank you for the helpful answer. I will try visit the attic tomorrow.

@JamieYahoo Yeah, in a building that old the attic floor boards will probably have shrunk and there'll be spaces between floorboards wide enough to slip an envelope. And there may be places that allow you to slip it into the top of a wall of the floor below.

If you're thinking of prying up a floorboard, old wood gets very very hard, so nails will be hard to pry and need to be driven back into their old holes. Good luck!!
Wrap the note in plastic. Seal it.
Take it down to the foundations, wet the concrete, use rubber gloves, mix some cement, cover the letter in the cement mix, and smooth it on to the foundation. Make sure the shape looks like a part of the original. (Pre-soaking the foundation is important, or it won't stick.)

馃.............I did some remodeling in my house a few years back. I left a bottle of Jack Daniels in the wall that I rebuilt. So in the future if someone opens that wall again they will find it..........If they don't break the bottle doing the demo.............
JamieYahooM
@Jimmy2016 Was it an empty bottle?
Jimmy201661-69, M
@JamieYahoo Nope, it's a full bottle..........

Okay. This is the best post of the day. The most original. 馃憤

@JamieYahoo Well, I'm not sure what you mean by secretly. Hoping it will or won't ever be found?
If you're hoping it will be found then maybe a note left in a closet, a kitchen cabinet or under a loose floorboard perhaps. If you want a demolition crew to find it, maybe somewhere less accessible - like behind a wall that's been carefully re-plastered?
JamieYahooM
@SW-User I would be disappointed if it is found by people who remember me or in Time - Soon-To- Come .

@JamieYahoo I re-read your intro to the post. I see you've already done this and you don't want it found until some time well into the future so you're asking us where would any of us hide our notes like someone who wishes to be totally anonymous?

My head hurts now... let's say folded up and stapled to the bottom - the underneath - of a door. Any door.

With the skeleton I bought from a second hand store and buried under the front porch for the next owners to discover. It will read, 'You've been pranked.'

Years ago I renovated houses. I would often write inside walls some complicated math formula followed by some symbols I made up

You would have to get a brick and make a cavity in it put the note into it and then put the brick into the wall...

You might try looking inside a closet, possibly over the door or in a corner out of sight.
