Confronted my a-hole doctor in front of my supervisor today and told him to stop shouting at nurses and learn some professionalism.

Unfortunately, I was crying the entire time. 💀

I came to fight for workplace dignity, but my tear ducts came prepared for a funeral. I swear, I really need my tear ducts to stop volunteering for situations they weren't invited to. I hate how soft I am. 😕

Degbeme · 70-79, M
@mindstruggle It`s a confrontation. Hard to feel good about it, but you did what others need to do.

Scroffington · 46-50, M
@mindstruggle Count Scrofula is jsut too visibly tied to my real name now cause of the podcast. I don't want my political enemies finding SW lmao.
Good for you for standing up to him
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
I’m so glad to hear that you stood up to him. The rest of your nurse staff must be so proud of you.
HumanEarth · F
Let me tell you sonmtine. You weren’t soft

You stood up for the nurses while you were upset, and you still said what needed to be said. Crying doesn’t cancel out your courage; You can be furious, clear, and teary all at once. 🫂

So don't beat yourself up, because you teared up. Everyone is proud of you for what you did.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Confronting the doctor about his bad behavior took guts. You're anything but soft.
It's fine, you did great 💖🫂
@mindstruggle Nah, you did just fine and you've come very far this year. I'm very proud of you. 🙌🏾🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
@DancingStarGoddess
Thank you. 🫂💕
@mindstruggle you're very welcome, always
You did the right thing. The Dbag needed to hear that.
You spoke up, bravely and passionately. The tears were part of that. That’s not soft. 🫂

GoFish ·
aww well hopefully positive change comes of it.. good on you for telling his ass off lol
@GoFish
Thanks. I surprised myself, honestly. Didn't know I had it in me, even with all the crying. 😂
GoFish ·
@mindstruggle awww guess you just had it with him lol
That took courage.
@mindstruggle How did he react to you?
@MsSwan
He was defending himself at first, I don't want to argue with his "reasons" I just told him to talk to us professionally. He said sorry when I started crying 😬
@mindstruggle Don't worry about facing him. He probably respects you now.

Speaking to the issue gets easier next time. The tears stay away each time you make the point

You had the guts to stand up to him. A lot of other people wouldn't confront someone in that kind of situation.
@Youwereexpectingajoke
Thank you! He's apparently been like that for a long time. He even told me he shouts at male nurses too, like that somehow makes it any better. I just think nobody should have to put up with that kind of behavior at work.
Youwereexpectingajoke · 31-35, M
@mindstruggle
Yeah that's no excuse. It's not fair on anyone to have to accept that sort of thing
You did great! And the tears only showed how important it is to you.

That said, I think the correct term for such a doctor is a proctologist.
You're not soft.
Swallowing your words would have been soft.

I think it's great that you stood up.
Tears and all.

I probably would have applauded you if I were there
I don’t think that’s excessive softness. Most of us are taught from little up not to show negative emotion. That can be good or bad, depending on the application.

What eventually happens is we get too good at suppressing anger and grief and all that stuff people don’t want to see. When the lid of the pressure cooker finally blows off, everything explodes, including our shame at losing control. For many years, when I got really angry, I cried. It was so frustrating. Righteous anger shouldn’t produce tears, but then again, you can’t slap people silly when that’s actually what you want to do.

Ironic that tears are “emotional” but shouting is “authority.” It’s not, and those who shout a lot, almost always at people who are powerless to shout back is a display of absolutely uncontrolled emotion.

You’re not soft as you’re the only one that spoke up! Hold your head high and go with dignity!
fun4us2b · M
I'm sure you got your point across...
@fun4us2b
I really hope so.

Is that the man sausage eater?
@BluntSm0ker
I'm the only woman here. Lol with
1 straight dude (married)
2 gay guys (I totally get along with)
BluntSm0ker · 100+, M
@mindstruggle
2 gay guys in Saudi Arabia?
@BluntSm0ker
Btw, most people at work didn't know they are gae 🙃
It's not a crime to have emotions. You work hard, you are tired and stressed as anyone working in a hospital could be expected to be. You stood up for yourself and the other nurses and that's pretty cool.
@InfoTunaBotTheReturn
Thank you, that really means a lot. 💗 I guess sometimes I forget that it's okay to feel things too, especially when work gets overwhelming. I just hope things get better for everyone.
Right or wrong, good or bad, that wouldn’t fly here. Here Dr’s rule and the nurse that dared do that would be fired …

I’m not criticizing you my dear, just telling you how that is here.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
That was just anger leaving your body
tenente · 36-40, M
Nothing soft about standing up for yourself.
