My manager called me in her office only to tell me that my hygiene is bad and that I stink.

Can I report her for this?

probably not, unless she's being abusive about it. every job i ever worked proper hygiene was mentioned in the paperwork i sign during onboarding. but i always work with food, so idk, maybe an office setting is different

sometimes we as people can be kinda stimky even if we shower every day 🙂‍↕ our bodies are silly. maybe try different bath products or a new deodorant. if that doesn't help it could be a seperate health issue, which i don't think you could get in trouble at work if you're diagnosed with something

@Frostcloud I had colleagues say this in Florida years ago. I bathed twice a day.(humid)

I was also vegetarian. Sometimes the different body chemistry throws people off. Plus, some people think artificial scents are the "normal" odor when those can be horrific. I did not use those scents.

@Neoerectus oh yeah diet too!! i've read about how vegans can tell when someone consumes milk or meat or both based on how they smell

years ago when i had an eating disorder i was constantly in ketosis simply bc i wasn't eating enough. sometimes i'd wake up sweaty in the middle of the night smelling lile butter and thought was disgusting 😭 i was googling wtf was up and learned people in ketosis can sweat smelling like butter, or worse, cat urine 😨

Id say no....as your manager its her job to ensure a comfortable environment for both colleagues and clients. She probably received multiple complaints and Im sure it was not a discussion she looked forward to having.

your employee manual may specify that you have to maintain good hygiene.

if so she may have been doing her job - I can't imagine someone going out of their way to say that without cause - but you never know with people these days.

so if it's in the manual and if there as cause you could report it but the complain probably won't go anywhere

If you shower every day and wear deodorant I’d consider reporting her

Was she right?

@JackDaniels I mean I shower everyday😳

@kimberlyJay well if it is not true, then talk to HR.
No. But never ever expect she's not out to get you. Nothing you can do will stop her.

Take a shower and use deodorant

sounds like a hostile work environment. you need to go in after rolling around in a cow patty.
