New challenge today.

For the last 2 years i have been working via an agency as teaching assistant. I have been at the same school for over 18 months. Ive been in a number of different classes and get on very well with the lovely team of staff.
Since last November, i have been covering maternity leave, and the lady ive been covering returned to work on Thursday.
I always knew that would happen, and my time there could soon end.
However, my line manager called me into her office on Thursday and I thought....here we go...🙁 ....but.....the first words from her mouth were 'we don't want to let the go' and she proceeded to tell me of options within the school i could consider if I wanted to stay.

So today, i start in a new class with a little lady with additional needs. I've worked with the class teacher before so thats a bonus, .....lets see what the day brings!
Wish me luck! X

Thanks everyone.
It was a good day. The little lady has ASD and is very muchnin her own little world, but we did engage quite a bit through the day, so an encouraging start x

Good luck, RubySoo! I know it's always been a good feeling for me, knowing I was valued as an employee, and I bet you'll be fine with this new challenge.

My daughter in law is director of a live in school for children with special needs. She absolutely loves "her" kids, and you will, too!
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@4meAndyou ive worked with kids with alsorts of extra needs over the years. I do love it....and them....but it can be a challenge!

@RubySoo Yes. I worked for a short time with the Greater Plymouth ARC, and as part of our training we had to learn self defense moves...blocking with our forearms.

Love that outcome Rubi, it just goes to show that you make a good job of the tasks you're given. You're a very caring lady and your new challenge, (although it being a steep curve) will also come up trumps. You'll manage this for sure xx
