What would you do

Started as a barback for my current employer 3 years ago. Learned how to bartend and has been my occupation for 34 months. Also a full time college student. Fall semester commences in 7 days. Was offered a management position last night. More hours...more money...less fun pourin' drinks ..seriously less free time. Feel like I've been offered the keys to a city. Just not sure I can maintain both. 🤷‍♀️

Management is obviously impressed by your talents. If they are smart, which I’m sure they are, you have been under serious observation from the top before their proposition. It all depends on how much the social interaction drives your performance. If you absolutely need the social stimulation to drive you that stay where you are. If you can wean yourself from that dependency then I would take that next step up the ladder especially if you have your undergrad under your belt and ready to take on more challenges.

@Pfuzylogic Not knockin'em...but pushing pencils has never been my career dream. Far removed from my aspirations, tending bar is fun af lol. Fits well with my scholastic schedule. But in the interim I eat Ramen quite often an pay my rent late.

@Punxi I think you know what you mean about pushing pencils, of course writing a dissertation will require that.
Use your imagination and see if there is a way that you could make a promotion exciting and if a new position doesn’t contain elements of motivation then maybe create a job description that would allow you to enjoy what you do.
