Sad to see the level of competency in hospitality

I ordered a McMuffin, using 10 coins of varying denominations placed on the counter.
The server stared at the pile for at least 5 seconds, picked up one pile, stared a little longer then proceeded to to look at the obverse and reverse side of each coin, each coin.
Please do not tell me that she was checking that it was Australian currency.

On a serious note, for my first big solo long distance trip, my parents made me carry cash... but I told them everything use credit cards now.

Maybe it's unusual to buy fastfood using coins or it was an upmarket restaurant and they don't like people using coins

She was, and in WA I can see why.. KIWI and other coins have the same value and a few Asian ones look similar until tou inspect..😷

@Stereoguy Todays cash tills display the amount of change to be given. Some servers can not even get that right.
One time I gave the server a $50 note. See preceded to give me the change - Plus the original $50 note.
I stared at her for an inordinate amount of time and she still never twigged.
I shook my head in disgust and gave her the $50 note back.
