@BohemianBabe I agree with you. Fascism does burn itself out. It did in Germany, and in Japan. Maybe we should look at how much of the country was left when it did. And what happened to the previous government.. Personally, I dont want that for America..😷

@SomeMichGuy At first Yes. Then the lobbyists got in and had acceptable levels lifted. Now the system is under attack from two fronts. Abondon the standards entirely. Or simply underfund or close the department responsible, so no measuremements can be taken. That solves the problem enterly..😷

@JamesBugman Sure, sure, I don’t mean to imply that Obama would ever behave that way. I’m just saying, this blatantly corrupt and undemocratic behavior that the MAGA crowd routinely accept and even try to defend when Trump does it would blow their little minds if it came from a liberal (and black, no less) president to further a liberal agenda.

And yet, some in this MAGA crowd, especially BizSuitStacy on SW, seem to have an answer, however ludicrous, hypocritical and cruel it may be, for everything. Thus, I’m curious what kind of mental gymnastics it takes to defend Trump’s firing of the labor statistics person and to be able to believably say they would hypothetically be okay with Obama doing something similar.

Does that make sense?

@DrWatson Now that Americans are abandoning their democracy and submitting to authoritarianism many of those Soviet-era jokes and sayings will become relevant again e.g. Whatever is not forbidden is compulsory.
