The Allure of Horror

Can anyone explain why some of us are drawn to horror and creepy things? Like I love the SCP universe and just saw the video on 2316. I showed it to a friend and I think they got freaked out lmao. What makes us like this?

Fear is an exciting feeling it can make adrenaline flow also the unknown is an interesting thing. I suppose we live in a fairly safe world so need some scary excitement.
