I not only believe it, but I participated, having sex many times with many a number of women during my deployment in I Corp, in the northern part of South Vietnam during the TET Offensive February 1968. Deployed in Phu Bai but enjoyed sex as far north oh Hue and as far south as Phu Loc. One has a certain attitude when in a war zone. You have to be there in uniform to understand fully what I am talking about.

@laurieluvsit yes I did. You see the general attitude is you get deployed, usually for 1 year. You know you are going into a combat zone, you know that you won’t be coming home so you literally take chances. One of those is leaving the perimeter of the base, secondly, you buy booze or drugs on the black market , you have sex every chance you get. Believe me, you are with mostly all men, there are nurses but you have to get wounded yo even Dee them, the medics takes care of everything els so you look for we whores. Up where we were it wasn’t very populated. You could get layed most in most Vills. Just say boom boom and they come out of the woodwork. Being in a Vill (a village) is dangeroud because everyone looks the same. The north and south Vietnamese . Sometimes you would see a group of guys in a long line anc it was usually where a hooker or two might be working. You get in line wait your turn and get laid and when your don’t you come away seeing the line is just as long as when you went in. You didn’t care you weren’t going to make it out alive. Somrr Er people think that is gross but not when you are in a war zone. If you get a disease , you go to your local medic and he dhoots you with 500 cc’s of penicillin and you are good to go. We would ride public Trsndportation. All this was very dangerous and against military laws. But you weren’t going home anyway. Made no difference.
It’s all in attitude.
When you crossed the halfway point. (6 months) you begin to be careful. As you get closer to going home the harder you try to stay alive. You would be. Surprised how many soldiers died in the last 30 days of their deployment. Lots.
Kerp in mind there are fire fights. 24/7365. During TET we would get hit with fire fights and Mortar Attacks etc at all hours of the day and night. You never knew.
So how was the sex ? Most every time when I was done and sure I would cum. After getting dressed. The first thing I wanted was to get layed. There was never a connection, no closeness, nothing. You would never see that perdin again. At least that is what you thought. Sometimes you would happen to see one again. It cost $ 5.00 USD. How ever I would go to a base , buy the little boxes of soap (tide) for 17 cents and trade that to the hookers. They would take the soap and wash the GI’s clothes for s fee. It was pretty wild.

@Canicu69
Wow!

Does it feel good to finally get some respect for the time you served there?

It is widely known that wasn't the case for Vietnam Veterans when they first came back but now is different.

@laurieluvsit yes it does. It was tough coming home in 1969. In fact we were told before boarding our flight into the US to change out of uniform and into civilian clothes .. that was a shock What was worse, was after 59 K soldiers killed and who knows how manny injured. Not to mention the soldiers that have suffered the results of Agrnt Orange. A O is the silent killer, I have been lucky that my cancers are in check. Five cancers to be exact, prostate Cancer, kidney Cancer, melanoma , and two other skin cancers that are under continuous treatment. As a result of complications from two surgeries, I wear a catheter the rest of my life and lost my right leg as strait of septic shock and gangrene. Hey. No complaints, i have had a great life, i do most everything I want, scuba diving, fishing, travelin, not bad for an old broken down Vietnam Vet who will be 81 in June. I thank God everyday. He has protected me everyday of my life.
I believe we need to bring back the draft. The young people have no idea what the military is all about. People don’t like What they don’t understand.
