I Want to Lose Weight

The way to lose weight MOST BACKED BY RESEARCH is to make small lifestyle changes one at a time. This does not lead to the drastic and right away weight loss that so many fad diets promise, it may take years to get down to the weight you want this way, however it is the ONLY PROVEN WAY to lose weight and keep it off. That is the key with those fad diets, they are not designed to keep the weight off! The second you slip, you will gain it all back, and many do not find those diets sustainable long term (if you do good for you).

Start by setting a small and realistic goal for yourself. My goal is to cook at least one healthy, nutritious meal a day. After I can do this successfully for a period of time, I'll change my goal to be cooking 2 nutritious meals a day, etc.

If you fail, the goal you are setting is too drastic for you. For example, going from eating 3000 calories a day to 1200 a day is incredibly drastic, your body will think there is a food shortage and you will start craving food all the time and be absolutely starving. Try setting a goal of something like eating 300 less calories a day. If that is too hard, even just 200 or 100 less. When you can eat that amount comfortably without feeling hungry anymore, then you know you can drop lower.

This doesn't just count for diet but for many other lifestyle changes as well such as exercise. Going from not working out at all to going to the gym for an hour every day is actually a very drastic goal. Try working out just 10 minutes a day first, maybe even just 3 times a week, then work your way up as your body gets more in shape.

Hopefully these tips can be helpful to others. It is hard to be patient and wait for the changes we want to see, but it is worth it because the changes will be permanent that way.
