Generator and carboys are fueled and ready if needed. I know shady spots where the creek is chest deep seated in a camp chair.

@BrandNewMan Water moccasins are very chill for a snake and won’t bother you if you don’t bother them. Just watch the water and make sure you don’t accidentally bump into or step on them. By that time of afternoon they were lounging in the shallow part all clustered together. And the water was shallow and clear so we could see if there was a snake. There was a huge black snake that would lounge on the side of the creek further back where it was deeper and we had to watch for it, gave it space.

Fill the bathtub with cool water and take a dip every once in a while. You will stay cool for a couple of hours.

@Horace Taking a shower every once in a while is helpful too. I have taken as many as 4 a day when I was doing outdoor chores in the hot part of summer.

@4meAndyou I have wet down hand towels and stuck them in the freezer till they froze and wiped myself down with them when I had no a/c in the summer. It helps.

the generator is tested and ready just in case. will die without air in this heat
4meAndyou · F
@saragoodtimes You are VERY lucky to have a generator!!!
saragoodtimes · F
@4meAndyou doesn't get used often but worth every penny when needed

@saragoodtimes Absolutely!!!

Luckily all my 220v runs off the solar setup

I just recently bought one of those fans that's also the spray bottle.
Did your power go out because of the heat? Because this happened to us last week but I heard the power only blinked for like 10 seconds and then it came back on

@twiigss I really don't know what caused the outage. The lights started flickering and for a while the power would go out and then come back on and the lights flickered even while the power was ON. THEN the internet and TV went out, and I received a notice that they would not restore services till 2:30 this afternoon, BUT everything came back online MUCH earlier than that.
I have now put myself on a power outage notification website, so I can look at local and east coast outages as they happen.

Today is supposedly the first day of 5 in a row with over 100 degree temperatures. Hopefully my window AC unit holds up.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou The fans start getting tired if they outlast the compressor. I think my window unit is about the same age as yours. It's been noisy for a few years and it's definitely struggling with the heat today it's 77 in the apartment and slowly going up. The sun alone heats this old building.

Power cuts are very rare here. So sorry to hear about how bad they are there.

Fortunately our electric is on and working fine. If now we have a generator and the motorhome.
Rolling blackouts?
myotherlife · 61-69, M
@Heartlander I hate those
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander I think there ARE areas that need to be repaired, and when we ALL turn on our air conditioners all at once it stresses the electric companies capabilities. I believe THAT is what happened today. My power outage map showed a cluster in a five mile radius all around where I live.
myotherlife · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou Wow that is bad, they get behind on updating the grid.
