Just a Little Rant

So we had a massive windstorm here in the Pacific Northwest last Wednesday December 17th. We have been with out power since Wednesday morning and now it's not estimated to be repaired till Christmas Eve or later. Our grocery stores are critically low of drinking water, and there is no FEMA or Red Cross in sight. There is a high population of seniors in our area on fixed incomes with only a single source of heat which only works with power. It is currently 27°F here and dropping. But there is no local government help for those people. My family has a generator to power our fridge, and a few other things in the house, we have wood heat that is not dependant on the power grid, we are low on water and will have to figure something else out tomorrow. And we're looking at another 4 days without power.

I WANT TO BE VERY CLEAR! I am grateful for the work crews out in the elements at all hours working to restore our power. I am in no way saying they are not working hard or fast enough. They are doing their very best and it's greatly appreciated. This is more in regards to the lack of government help to get those in dire situations through the outage around here.

Here is a short video I took of the storm when it first started to arrive in my corner or Idaho Wednesday morning.

That's horrible. The elderly and those in need always suffer the most.
Keep checking on your neighbors as you're able.

We had a minor version roll through. Viscious winds and bitter temps.
Our friends were slated to be without power until the 23rd also.

There needs to be more help in reserve, I agree.
Oh honey I'm so sorry. I just said a prayer for you all. I wish government would step in. It's a real concern for the poor seniors. For everyone, but it's particularly hard on them with no heat. I wish Red Cross was there. I'll keep you all in my prayers. I hope you all get water soon. God bless all those guys out in the cold trying to get the power back on. I sure pray it's on soon

FEMA was gutted with this administration.

I left Idaho because conservatives didnt want to pay taxes for essential services.

Good luck!

@Neoerectus Preach!!! And this admin is DAMN lucky there was no major hurricane to hit 🇺🇸 this year as their voters woulda been outta luck. Oh wait, 🍊 Jesus woulda saved them! 🙄

Oh dang! We get those but during the late summer. Hurricanes

@3Dogmatic it's no fun

@cheyster Zero fun.
Wishing items get better for those in your area soon!

So sorry.

How come people do not have water? Don't the the water treatment and pumping stations have backup generators?
cheyster · 31-35, F
@JoyfulSilence far as I know everyone IN town has water. But anyone who has a well and is not on the city water system doesn't have water unless they have a generator to power the well pump motor.

@cheyster

That is bad. I hope they can get help.

Write to the White House immediately. There is an email form you can use.
funfan · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou with this administration? they will do absolutely nothing to help whatsoever and have proven that time and time again this year.
4meAndyou · F
@funfan When you don't even BOTHER to report a problem, then you deserve the results.
