We typically don't need windbreakers or long pants until October. Funny, in Boston, only 4 hours away, being outside after dark sans jacket is not an option.

Cape Cod completely clears out after Labor Day. While here the LI beaches go for most of September.

You get that at the other end too. Spring comes much earlier
