Probably like a 2. It's objectively a dangerous situation, but my whole fear response is kinda janky.
Imsleepy · 31-35
It depends on my location. If I’m out in an empty field, 10. If I’m in an area where I’m less likely to be struck by lightning a 5.

I go outside by choice a lot of times when it storms.

I've had a few encounters with lightning and you realize we are nothing when facing the full force of mother nature..
Effloresce · 26-30, F
@Majorlatency we are but little tiny specs in this infinitely large and terrifying universe!
Majorlatency · M
@Effloresce True, relax though, take it easy, there's not much we can do about it. It's much bigger than us just go with the flow and marvel at the wonder of it all..
i would enjoy it as long as i didn't get struck by lightning. i like stomping in puddles and seems the birds are more active when it's rainy if it's not super windy. 🐦 !

1. Maybe 2-4 if in a hazardous location.
.
I recall one Summer evening outside a seaside pub a few miles from an inland ridge over which a sizeable thunderstorm was raging. We were close enough to its fringes for cloud cover and a few spots of rain, but nothing more.
Suddenly we heard someone exclaim, "Look at her hair!"
Our, as well as their, group all turned to look.
"Her" was a girl sitting up on a low wall, and her long hair was standing upright above her head, drawn up by the storm's electrical field!

1 because I like storms & I stand out there anyway 😂
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I was stuck outside a few times and always freaked out. 5-8, depending on various things. I freak out more than warranted because I'm scared of lightnings.
Effloresce · 26-30, F
@CrazyMusicLover I’m also terrified of lightning
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Effloresce When I was a kid I was obsessed with stories where people were stuck by lightning or encountered a lightning ball and then I started having nightmares about lightning as some kind of intelligent entity capable of chasing people. I still have dreams where I'm in a city and the sky turns almost black and I try to find some place to hide.
Maybe if I didn't pay so much attention to ways how people were killed in a storm I could be chilled out too but not when I'm so aware of complete unpredictability.

I had to walk to school in first grade during a thunderstorm and I was crying by the time I got to the classroom. Afraid of lightning.
Effloresce · 26-30, F
@cherokeepatti what a scary experience 😟
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Effloresce I was soaked and that didn’t bother me like the lightning did, which is a very serious threat.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
I would sit in a car. They are safe from lighting as part of their design.
Slade · 56-60, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde I got hit sitting in a car. Entire vehicle jumped up at least 6" and the radio shut off
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@Slade Wow that was unlucky.I have seen the tests done on TV too.
Slade · 56-60, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde caused no permanent damage (to the car anyway). Was pretty wild
nonsensiclesnail · F
Not even a 1. I’m all for that experience!
Effloresce · 26-30, F
@nonsensiclesnail you are brave! Would you ever try storm chasing to see a tornado? 🌪
nonsensiclesnail · F
@Effloresce Or, Im not wise enough to stay away. ☺️. I adore the idea of storm chasing. The reality might be too real? I have a difficult time thinking I would ever be fearful, Id just be in awe. There is a power and a majesty to a good storm that I *might* be in love with.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I have been stuck outside in thunderstorms before. Hiding under a tree is not a good idea.
Soldonmonday · 51-55, F
I usually sit on the patio and enjoy it.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Soldonmonday me too. Especially good lightning
Selah ·
I have been multiple times and its horrible.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Not too bad , if i can find a place out of the rain
Piper · 61-69, F
At least a 6, probably. I live in a state and area that retains the title of the "lightening capital of the US", and have experienced the (literally) hair raising feeling of lightning striking close. I really enjoy thunderstorms, but wouldn't be stuck outside in one with no safe harbor.
bijouxbroussard · F
If there was also lightning ? A solid 9.😱

Depends, do I have an umbrella, if I do how big is it, and is the handle wood or metal?
3Dogmatic · 46-50, M
1 at the most. I’ve been there and done that. It’s just liquid sunshine.
Grateful4you · M
Hardly ever. I love a good thunderstorm.
Dino11 · M

deadgerbil · 26-30
