Wisconsin school shooting

MSNBC REPORTS:

“ In a statement on Monday afternoon, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said, “There are no words to describe the devastation and heartbreak we feel today after the school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison this morning.”

“As a father, a grandfather, and as governor, it is unthinkable that a kid or an educator might wake up and go to school one morning and never come home,” he said. “This should never happen, and I will never accept this as a foregone reality or stop working to change it.””

I'm looking at the Gun Violence Archive list for mass shootings since the murder of the health care CEO. In addition to today's 2 killed, 6 injured in Madison Wisc, we've had:

December 14, 2024, Texas, Houston 2 killed, 4 injured

December 10, 2024, Florida, Lake Worth Beach, 2K 2I

December 8, 2024, Illinois, Cicero 1K, 3I

December 7, 2024, Georgia, Atlanta 4K

December 7, 2024, Washington, Seattle, 5I

December 6, 2024, Alabama, Theodore, 1K, 5I

Since the CEO murder there have been seven mass shootings with twelve deaths. Only the most recent is still in the news cycle, but the CEO murder is still making news. I think it says something terrible about us as a nation that these other killings are barely newsworthy.

Focusing on school shootings,

There have been 39 school shootings this year that resulted in injuries or deaths, according to an Education Week analysis. There have been 221 such shootings since 2018. There were 38 school shootings with injuries or deaths last year. There were 51 in 2022, 35 in 2021, 10 in 2020, and 24 each in 2019 and 2018.

Based on the numbers, it would be fair to conclude that we worship guns and sacrifice children to them.
