Texas and Florida have a dramatically larger firearm death rate as California. Common sense gun control works.

"In 2005, California’s firearm mortality was much more in line with other large states like Texas and Florida. Since then, California has tightened its gun laws. Florida and Texas have gone the opposite direction.

During that time period, California’s firearm mortality rate dropped, while the rate has increased dramatically in Florida and Texas."

Meanwhile...

https://fee.org/articles/guns-prevent-thousands-of-crimes-every-day-research-show/

Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired, and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

Every year, 400,000 life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.
60 percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed.
@graphite that's long time proven bs. Lol. Look it up.

@JonLosAngeles66 Someone needs to explain how disarming law-abiding citizens, so only dangerous criminals get to have guns, makes us safer.
@graphite they aren't disarming any law abiding citizens. But it's basically less guns equal less gun violence.

The link wasn't really clear on who is being shot???
Are they talking un-armed victims being shot?
Are they talking about bad guys being shot?
Both?
Of course in a state that it is Okay to shoot bad guys then the number will reflect a larger amount of shootings.
I did see that they claim suicide as a shooting.

@Dainbramadge I always use this website as a reference when somebody talks about mass shootings. It's pretty accurate, up to the most recent day.

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting

Keep in mind, this is just keeping track of what they call mass shootings, which means somebody shooting at multiple people at once. That means that technically, even if I miss every one of my targets, if I'm shooting at multiple people, that's a mass shooting.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire Damn. That's some pretty play by play info. LOL
Thank you for that link.
Really a shame that nobody is willing to do what really needs to be done and is proven to work in similar situations.

@Dainbramadge I know, right?
originnone · 61-69, M
funny how that works, huh? I wish the NRA had to address things like this....I wonder how they would address it....
akindheart · 61-69, F
i don't see it in Florida like those stats state.
It’s all about parenting

Gosh oh golly gee whillickers. I never would have guessed. Stricter gun control laws means fewer mass shootings. Wow.
