I Quite Enjoy Trains

I don't drive, never wanted to, so I rely on public transport.

Trains are good. In the UK, it's a bit harsh. Trains not arriving on time, no seats...All that kinda stuff..

On the continent, however, it's great. Cheaper. Can get a seat. Better views? Oh, that's controversial, but maybe true!

So, yes, with the exception of being a passenger in a car, it has to be trains.

It is good in parts. The best thing is the extent of the network. I have to travel between city centres and normally rail is quicker and less stressful than adding to all the road congestion.

You're not missing a great deal of fun by not driving 🚗😐 In the small-ish provincial town in the South-East where I live, there are cars parked everywhere, it's like an obstacle course, and the traffic is relentless. I tend to use a car only if I'm carrying stuff, or going somewhere with no easy rail access. Otherwise it's cycle or get the train.

Rail travel is fair in the UK; I wouldn't say it's 'good' - there are too many delays and cancellations and where there's a 'rail replacement bus' it's sometimes a Transit - without enough room. But mostly it works. If I want to go to Birmingham, then it would not occur to me to go by car. Rail is cheaper for me now these days, too. Age does have its compensations!

Trains are good where I live it's the fastest way to travel from my town to Cardiff 17 minutes in fact, their Diesel at the moment but will be Electric by the end of 2025.

As you can see from the picture their first class trains.

Wish we had that option here. Very expensive, few routes, slow. Cars and planes are about all we've got over here. Distance between places is too great.
The rail situation in the states…

I have been a train fanatic since I was 4. When I graduated, I went right to work for the railroad. Do what you love I was told.

I love riding trains. It’s not a common mode of travel in the US but I do it when I can.
