Sometimes I just laugh at the credit card "Special Offers" I get sent in emails.

Like this morning checking my emails I had an offer from American Express for $120 in free Uber benefits. This struck me so funny because I live in the middle of nowhere rural America. The only delivery service we have is the US post office, Fedex, UPS, or Amazon and 90% of the Amazon deliveries are passed onto the post office for the rural delivery driver to drop off.

So, what would $120 in free Uber get me, the local Amish only take cash so that leaves them out, and the Ohio Dept. of Transportation snowplow guy only piles snow in the mouth of my driveway off of the state route. So what would I Uber? LOL

Sounds like you are as rural as me ☺

@Sweetnspicy1 Well welcome to the country. I saw you were married so at least you have help. I am all alone and with no neighbor with in one square mile of me in any direction, no cell phone service over my farm relying on satellite internet service to have internet and WIFI calling makes things interesting to say the least. But I would not trade one minute of it for the convivences of a suburb, town, or city.

@Sweetnspicy1 I also laugh every Friday night when I hear the rap music and clip clop of the young Amish men's buggy as they head to their sport gatherings every Friday evening and the 2 to 4 am return home of the same Amish buggy and music.

The Amish buggies have head lights and taillights on them by law in Ohio to prevent rural car verses buggy fatalities on the roadway. The industrious young Amish guys/men put's in an extra car battery and just as much jacked up music system as you will find in any car, they all have cell phones secretively from their parent's knowledge and boom country but mostly rap music when far enough away from home to play it.

@WillaKissing we have the Mennonite community up the hill. They drive their horse and buggies up and down our road day and night. Pretty cool though. Especially seeing the horse and cart signs on the road as to alert drivers to be aware.

A man we knew a few years ago would collect offers like that or:
20p off a box of 500 teabags
10% off your meal when spending over £50
Free parking after 6pm
Free gym session for you and 3 mates
Free will writing
Etc
All stuff most people throw in the bin. But he was that tight he'd put a selection of these in a recycled envelope and give them to people for birthday and christmas presents.

@meggie That is very cheap skin flint type of guy, yet funny and clever too! LOL

I'm in the same boat as you. I live Amish/Mennonite country it took them almost 5 years to get them to talk to me.

Sometimes they can be kinda of a close group
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth Very closed group unless they need a ride or you are spending money on their goods and trades then they act very friendly.

I suppose they just don't know about your little corner of Ohio!
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou Well obviously, but I found it funny to try and spark me into getting an AMX card.
some don't think there is life beyond city limits.

@jackrabbit10 Exactly and that we all just jumped onto this Uber deal. Heck, I drive where I need to go and I cook my meals from scratch as well!

I get so sick of the junk paper mail.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@minoltaguy Yeah, but it helps me to get the wood stove burning. LOL
