Well, I looked, left, went to look again. The bike I was looking at was okay, just wasn't 100% sure. It just seemed a little tawdry aside from the chrome and pipes. The aftermarket seat sucks, and the aftermarket grips are as bad as the seat. Not sure what people are thinking with some of the mods they do. Then I noticed the clutch housing was loose. I started thinking "what if something I really want comes in after I buy this?" I decided to think about it some more.
Sure enough, a 2009 FXSTCI Softail Custom came in. Actually, it's the original bike I saw on their website before it went offline. Evidently, someone backed out on the purchase. I went to the shop Saturday and left contemplating. It has some rust on the front spokes, other than that, it's very much like my old bike. Love the deep purple and silver 2-tone, and the only aftermarket parts are pipes and pegs. 8900 miles.
After thinking about it over the weekend, talked to them, and they came down another $300, so I bought it. Just need to figure out how to get it home (it’s 37F right now and I don’t have a helmet).
After I got rear ended in my car, I have become nervous about riding my bike but can't quite bring myself to sell it. 2015 100 horse power Indian Scout.
@GrinNude beautiful bike never stop riding friend that’s the only little bit of freedom I can find in life where my phones not ringing somebody doesn’t want something just me and my brothers riding
@ChiefJustWalks just stay out of the big cities I very rarely go into the city with my bike with my buddies. We’re going on a trip in two weeks here we’re putting them in trailers and taking them to California for 10 days.
@GerOttman yes they don’t build them like they used to. The only problem is you got to build a big shop I built a 5000 square-foot shop on my acreage and then you fill it full of stuff very expensive hobby.
@Funlov On the top bike? Thing is the seat on the custom is perfect for me. Also, comfy for a passenger and with the risers on the passenger pegs my daughter is looking forward to going for a ride.
@BrewCityBarfly yeah, I don’t ride with anybody. I run a single seat and big bars on mine stage three screaming Eagles for pipes. I can’t leave anything alone even my snowmobile’s. I do stuff to them I’m a man.
@Funlov The V&H pipes are really nice, glad for that. I probably bookmarked $2K of items already just based on some things I did to some of the bikes I had previous. 🙂
@Spoiledbrat After I sold my last one, I swore I was done. Then my daughter started talking about learning and buying a bike, and I knew as soon as I stepped in a dealer I'd start thinking about it. I mean, I don't want her to ride alone. 😉
