Wow, that brought back a memory of at least 52 years ago.
As a school child of 10? the class went on a special visit to the local copper mine smelter. We went in cars.
The smelter was awe inspiring. Very large vats of molten copper being tipped out into large metal containers. Thousands of sparks being throw everywhere.
Somehow I became separated from the group and got lost. Ended up at the car park ad got into the car I thought I came in.
Turns out it was the wrong car. It was a mine workers car. When the group arrived at the car park they saw me sitting in the wrong car. 🙂

My sister's done this before except she's sat in the car and had a 30 seconds conversation while rummaging through her bag before she noticed a stranger staring back at her

Weirdo, I still don't understand why he didn't say anything.
Speak and thou shall be heard
itsok · 31-35, F
@NickiHijab I guess he was stunned but 30 seconds is a long time to be stunned 😅

My mother once left the house one evening walked up the street to where she had parked her car, got in and drove away. About a hundred metres up the road she glanced in the rear view mirror and saw something in the back of the car that she didn't recognize. It turned out that worn Ford Cortina keys would open almost any Ford Cortina in the early '70s and it wasn't her car.

@ninalanyon When I had my other car I went to get in it after shopping and beeped the unlock door button on my key…not only did my car unlock but the next car to me did as well. Same make & model car too.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@cherokeepatti It seems like car manufacturers are not interested in security!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ninalanyon :-)

They are now, but Itsok had entered the wrong and unlocked car by mistake, and the consistency of keys you mother found does not occur now.

Instead the cars are fitted with radio keys the criminal gangs can clone!

This happened to my friend and I! We exited the store and got into the car....which was unlocked. And we started putting the seatbelts on until we realized she didn't have pictures of people all over the vehicle 😂

We freaked out and got in her car, hahaha, and thankfully, the people didn't see us.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
This happened to me. My brothers were laughing at me. 🥴
itsok · 31-35, F
@mindstruggle my brother and dad both laughed at me 😵
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
I did that once when shopping with my sister. She had a what I thought was the only particular car color in the tri state area. I got in the car and looked over to find she was two cars over laughing hysterically 😒
BobbyMoeven · 51-55, M
The amount of people responding to this and saying I did that before ...

Just goes to show you how incredibly out of it we all are here .... 🙄😁
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@BobbyMoeven I find it fascinating how many people leave their cars unlocked in public spaces.
BlueVeins · 22-25
LMAO I'VE DONE THIS BEFORE TOO

It hurts so much 💔
WillaKissing · 56-60
You should have said Cool, I finally escaped my abductor slide over please! LOL
itsok · 31-35, F
@WillaKissing “wrong car” “oh no, this one should do fine. Where’re we headed?”
BobbyMoeven · 51-55, M
If it had been me ..

I would have offered to pay for there gas if I could drive away with them ...

And honk the horn and wave to my dad as we left the gas station 😈😁

Even better... I would have them hold my arms back , and stare as if I was being taken hostage ..😈😈😈😈🤣🤣
itsok · 31-35, F
@BobbyMoeven “y’all got room for one more?”
Piper · 61-69, F
I think more people than not, have done this at least once. I sure have, and it was embarrassing...for sure. In your case though, it was almost inevitable.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Good they didn't pull a gun on you. They tried to carjack me once at a gas station.
HumanEarth · 56-60, M
Some may think that's funny.

But I did that once when I was a kid (between 8/10 yrs old) and I was scared to death. I started to cry. I thought my grandpa left me behind.

But they were on the pump right next to us. Try being a little kid and that happens.
Ferric67 · M
You made new friends
sladejr · 56-60, M
Had that happen in the city a few times when I drove a black Camry. Obviously they thoughI was their uber.

In the daytime it was amusing. Night not so much
Heartlander · 80-89, M
We have a white Toyota. So easy to get focused on another white Toyota when exiting a gas station or supermarket, thinking it's our car.
What are the chances of an identical car taking the spot after he left? 😲
itsok · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato I KNOW
This happened to me at a grocery store, I almost crapped myself
itsok · 31-35, F
@mindlessdrifter I got a coffee so my almost crapping myself will be slightly delayed 🥲
@itsok Yikes
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
you could have gotten jumped for that in some areas, people can be defensive.
GentlemanPirate · 51-55, M
so did you yell at your dad?
itsok · 31-35, F
GentlemanPirate · 51-55, M
@itsok aww you're a good daughter then
Mudkip · 31-35, M

Lilyb · 22-25, F

@Virgo79 I wish no one was in this car. There was a duffel bag in the seat I thought was mine so I could’ve figured it out without an audience 😅
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@itsok first thing i thought was who put all this stuff in my car, then realized it wasn't mine
