I guess it depends on how many EV charging spots there are. If limited then they should be for charging only.

@samueltyler2 Fair point, but remember we're being pushed to all have EV's, so what exist today as petrol-diesel servo's will have to change to EV charging centres and public parking in shopping centres, businesses, etc will have to adapt as personal transport systems evolve. Currently, it's not evolving as the Net Zero zealots are trying to force the regime on everyone.

@zonavar68 No, it is not evolving, in the US, because the pawns of the fossil fuel industry are fighting it. In many European cities, you find charging stations almost on every street, more EV cars are being sold then ICEs..

@samueltyler2 That's totally the opposite to here, where charging stations are not free, and electricity is very expensive, and our country is very large with a small (compared to mainland usa) population, where almost all the population lives within a 100 km band along the east and south-east costs of the mainland. Outside of that, population is sparse.

@zonavar68 where are you?
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 Near Newcastle in Australia. At my work there are a few people driving EV's. Probably 1 percent of the staff. No EV chargers there, or dedicated EV parking spots. EV's are not very good for anyone doing a 24/7/365 shiftwork job like mine. Locally, there is currently one carpark that has any EV chargers, but I see a fair number of EV's as there's a big snobby waterfront area with high net worth families. I'm in the bogan part of low net worth people as that's where I can afford to live.

@zonavar68 I guess a lot also depends on distance to and from home/work. Once you drive an EV, you may never want another ICE.

@samueltyler2 I've driven toyota camry hybrids and that's the closest I've got. I do not give a shit about insane off-the-line acceleration. Until an EV 4wd can do what my 33 y/o diesel toyota 4wd can do I'll sit back and wait. Things like the BYD 'shark' EV ute are just toys that can't match a proper 4wd. Not yet. Maybe one day the tech will make sense.
