what would you do in this situation....?

you're driving on a busy street with lots of traffic and there's a bend in the road. as you make your way around the bend you all of a sudden see a family of ducks crossing the street. would you hammer on the brakes risking getting rear ended or run over the ducks? (if you swerved you'd be in a head on collision with oncoming traffic)

I heard of someone in Canada getting prosecuted for stopping on a highway for a dog or something. A woman on a motorcycle couldn't stop in time rode into her & died.
